  1. Not sure that is what @CyberNerd was getting at. The terms of the copyright are upto the copyright holder. Especially in school produced material, the copyright might be more favourable or waived all together. He is right, it's worth double checking first before hand.
  2. You're right - it's illigal. If the HoD won't accept that then maybe a quiet word with your Head is in order?
  3. It's worth keeping an eye on the PS Blog: PlayStation.Blog.Europe : Your daily fix of PlayStation news from across the SCEE region for updates. They are also the first to announce the new games each month for PS+ subscribers. Also, I've found some milage in using the PS App on iOS/Android and/or the Website rather than accessing directly throught the PS4. Don't know why there'd be a difference.
  4. Best not get your hopes up. The CPU's in the new consoles are nowhere near powerful to emulate those in the previous generation at anything even close to a useable speed - which is why neither consoles has backwards compatibility already.
  5. Given this news story on the rival platform: http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/30/xbox-one-500gb-hdd-swapped-for-ssd-1-tb-hybrid-drive-how-to/ It shan't be long before one of the two are "jailbroken" (all are sooner or later). Given they are both x86 based I think the potential is quiet exciting for the emulation scene. Which will be the worthy successor to the original XBox?
  6. Picked up mine from the courier this morning. Everything working perfectly. Currently watching Netflix while I wait for downloads. Controller is much, much better than the DS3 and looks drop dead gorgeous in blue. Consoles got a fair bit of weight behind it. HDD upgrade was quick and painless, had the download on a USB stick ready so no waiting on overloaded Sony servers. I like the new menu for the most part. Noticeably quicker than the PS3, I just don't like the untidy way games are organised and launched. Could do with some customisation and use of more than one line - dare I say it, more like XB1/Win8. Plex works well from the web browser which is a god send! PS App is interesting. Got it connected on both phone and iPad. Looks like it doesn't remember the connection which is annoying. Makes a good wireless keyboard, better than using the on screen one. Resogun is Defender and as such interesting for a 5 minute blast. Waiting for AC:IV to finish before I can see some proper next gen graphics/gameplay...
  7. Ok, I've just looked over our policies here... Set in User Configuration on a policy applied to the Students Users OU (only students are restricted by the policy, staff are not restricted). Default security level is "Unrestricted" Additional Path E: (USB pen sticks) Disallowed Additional Path N: (Home drives) Disallowed Additional Path P: (old - needs updating, student accessible public drive) Disallowed Designated File Type Properties include .BAT, .CMD, .EXE, etc. Think that's it. Seem to work for the most part.
  8. I'm not sure it's best practise to actually use the default domain policy for anything other than password policies (which only work when set here). Makes it harder to manage in the long run. It's usually better to keep your AD organised in an OU tree an apply GPO's to OU, you get greater control that way. In terms of using the default domain policy, no it would make absolutely no difference since is applies to everyone anyway. Computer policies apply while Windows is booting up, User policies apply while users are logging in. You should never need to reboot the server for policies to apply. However policies don't apply to machines automatically. They run a random update system. Something like every 4hours +/- a random number of minutes. If you want to force a policy you need to run this command on the client computer: gpupdate /force
  9. Check out Custers Revenge on the said same console
  10. Yay! I remember having/playing this on a green screen CPC (Awful, Awful game!)
  11. Image, as in photos? I use Paint - already on the machines.
  12. Horrible, horrible can of worms. Quick put the lid back on... I'm not sure there is any legal alternative to buying 1 copy of each song for each iPad from Amazon or iTunes or A.N.Other legal music retailer. Certainly don't fall into the trap of thinking you can rip CD's...
  13. And the Tartan Paint
  14. Are your DC servers externally managed? The DNS addresses being given out by DHCP should be that of your DC's. If it's not then that's where the problem is. The DNS address in the screenshot certainly looks outside the scope of your IP range. Is there a reason why DHCP is being run from the Cisco router intstead of one of the DC's? Have you checked the settings other PC's are getting, are they getting the same DNS server from DHCP? If so you need to contact whoever externally manages the Cisco box and get them to correct the DNS settings it's reporting with DHCP.
  15. Oh, gets worse then
  16. Don't let the logistics of a worldwide launch get in the way of a good moan It's not as if Sony will have launched in more countries worldwide than Microsoft come the end of November (32 to Microsofts 21). Or the fact the two week grace as meant the yanks have troubleshooted the system for us and we already have an updated firmware for meny of the bugs they've found. Edit: or for that matter that their are 193 UN member states. What do the other 172 think of Microsofts attude to a "Worldwide Launch"? The more interesting one of course is, what do the Japanese think of Sony making them wait until next February?
  17. Sounds pretty damn Northern to me! (unless Scotlands be relocated)
  18. http://bcove.me/2x9f9gyi Taken from the Ars article linked above. Scary how slow the PS4 is at boot up - 30sec. Most of it with nothing being outputed to the display. The XB1 was in game before PS4 had got to the main UI screen, ouch. I swear my PS3 doesn't take that long turning on. Expect something, it's a launch console. In the spirit of good will, I hope whatever problems XB1 suffers from they are in the same low quantities as the PS4 problems have been. One of the bonsus of getting the console 2 weeks after the yanks is being prepared for the problems and having newer firmware revisions. You've got a worldwide launch too look forward to...
  19. Lol, 7hours is ALOT of gameplay for 1 day! Still I'll run with my existing PS3 controller strategy... 2 controllers. 1 on charge, 1 in play. Swap over when it gets down to 1 bar. That said, I'd much sooner AA batteries personally. Still the Xbox controllers have the left thumb stick in the wrong place so that's not perfect either
  20. Oh dear, 0% Northern. Off the scale. Should move to the Channel Islands or France
  21. Yeah, I'm waiting till Wednesday night or Thursday to download whatever the lastest firmware is then. Hopefully my SSHD would have arrived by then as well.
  22. Final revision before EU launch? Or do I wait to download 1.52 next week?
  23. For those of you excitidly waiting for next Friday (I'm jealous your getting your new toys a week earlier than me ) - Xbox One review: More than a game console, less than a living room revolution | Ars Technica
  24. Following on from that it's important to note that policies usually have three settings - 1 - Enabled 2 - Disabled 3 - Not Applied If you have previously enabled a policy that you don't want anymore then you must specifically change to "Disabled", and vise-versa. Changing to "Not Applied" after a policy has been used will leave it set on machines that have already picked up the policy. So a previously Enabled policy will still be Enabled on old machines, but new machines won't have the policy set.
