Well, I now know what's waiting for me in hell - so I can stop wondering about that! My legs hurt from the knees down - that's not normal! Same again Friday? (the music's not so bad).

I've seen The Hunger Games - does that count? -
Thanks again to @HarryMonkey for starting the thread - never heard of C25K before. Downloaded all the podcasts to the iPhone. Going to start in the morning, bright and early 5:30, and see how I get on. As daft as it sounds, my goal is to *feel* fit enough to get back in the saddle when decent cycling weather returns. 9 weeks - I can do that!

I put my low surivival rate down to lack of Scouting experience and willingness to join the looting. I think I got 6 months not 6 minutes thanks to my willingness to run for the hills when the looting turns nasty. Perhaps the longer survivors are not partaking in the free 60" widescreen TV opportunities and have better camping skills? -
Haven't kept up with the story, but just read through the list of charges on the Beebs website. That said, and I'm tying to find a suitable link for this, but hasn't there been some research done state side that suggests Women jurors in rape cases are more likely to blame the victim so he'd be more likely acquitted with more female jurors?
-
Random selection: BBC NEWS | UK | Magazine | How is a jury selected? Could just have easily been an all male jury. There is no actual selection as such. The jurors don't even know what they will be judging until after they've been sworn in.

Good call! Think I might give this a go to regain some fitness after I stopped cycling back around September time. Can't seem to get motivated to get back on the bike for some reason. Maybe 9 weeks of this will sort me out?

6 Months. But the tag line has me grinning from ear to ear: One of my all time favourite films. I'm off to see if I can find Peter Ustinov talking to Old Deuteronomy -
How to Format External Hard Drive to FAT32 in Windows

Never tried, but, how does the web based Office 365 work with those platforms - if at all. And how far away in features is the Web version from the retail version. This is where MS need to develop Office. Not sure native clients are worth the asking price anymore. Remember the future is atleast 4G Internet at 98% coverage once telcos get their acts together.

Agreed. But as I said above a year is a long time to wait. Could we be heading towards a more splintered desktop - as in the variety of competing micro's of the 80's? What do business computers need? Word processor, spread sheet and a web browser? The only thing keeping corporates tied to Windows is Active Directory IMHO. Will other's make a play into this area? Is there more that can be done with a Google Chrome style device?

I'm wondering if there's anything MS can do now to distance any future version of Windows from Windows 8. And I'm not certain a "Windows 9" release will revive Microsoft's fortunes. I'd give up of any real hope that the start menu will be properly fixed. At least in the consumer space they are too tied in to Metro - XB1, Surface, Phone. Microsoft's problem is the two markes, business and consumer, it successfully brought together in Windows XP (in fact the trend started before Windows 3.1 as consumers bought PC's instead of Amiga's and ST's) is now splintering again. Microsoft are left with a single product that used to satisfy the needs of both markets and it now needs to decide which of the two are more important or completely split the OS. Windows 8 would suggest they're choosing the consumer space over their bread and butter business space. A year's a long time in IT. What will consumer IT look like in April 2015? Is there a large enough space between Android and iOS, given another year of developments, for Windows? Also can business afford to wait another year for MS to get their act together? With XP support now over, business are probably looking at future developments more closely now. What is the road map once Win7 support is up? A another year is a long time to wait to see if MS have a suitable answer. I wonder if there is anything Google can do to Android in the next year or so to make it more business friendly? I'd say the timing would be perfect for it.

Shh, don't tell anyone. I'll get in alot of trouble if Microsoft find out I've got these. I've managed to obtain some early screenshots of the new UI

Do you have just one policy to deploy all printers? Would it not be better to target printer deployment in multiple polcies at OU level. Locations that only have the secure print available will then only get the secure print policy and set to default?

While I'm a waiting for Windows to install on our new kick-ass server - I to would like to add my thanks to Colin and the guys, especially Ed, at Very-PC who pulled rabbits out of has and met my demanding price/spec requirements

I listed Guacamalee under PS3 because that's how it's listed on their website. Probably a Cross-Play title so both PS3 and Vita owners get it. When they do the updates the games don't appear under PS+ straight away for some reason. But searching the store usually turns them up with a free download link. Never had a problem working out what you get. The EU Blog, linked above, is pretty good at giving a heads up at whats coming and whats going and on which days.

Becareful, Not sure if that's for the US version of PS+. Here's the current (January) line up for the UK: PS4: Resogun Don't Starve PS3: DMC: Devil May Cry Remember Me XCom: Enemy Uknown Guacamalee Little Big Planet Karting Borderlands 2 Uncharted 3 PS Vita: Soul Sacrafice Uncharted Golden Abyss Gravity Rush Blazblue Quantum Shift Extended GTA: Liberty City Stories PlayStation Plus in January: DmC, Soul Sacrifice, Borderlands 2, more – PlayStation.Blog.Europe PlayStation Plus I've been a subscriber for almost 2 year now. Fantastic value for money. I've gotten some very, very good PS3 games (Red Dead, Batman Arkham City, Sleeping Dogs, Hitman Absolution, Burnout Paradise, and more). Be a couple of weeks till we find out what the Feb line up changes are. Looking forward to seeing what they bring to PS4 next. Maybe if Bioshock Infinite is on US Plus this month we'll get it next month?

And here in lies the problem: Valve won't develop exclusive games for SteamOS, Steam Machines | Joystiq Valve are not interested in system exclusives. They're are not really interested in defining the hardware (see the disperate nature of machines annouced, and wild price fluctuations - no real standards). They are only really interested in promoting the OS because they "don't like Windows 8". Not making the best reading for a business model no matter how good the core idea of a "steam machine" might be. They need to be stricter on hardware standardisation and they need AAA exclusives. I don't think they will get either...
-
I've got a PS4 but would seriously consider jumping ship to Steam around 2015 time if AAA support works out. That said, if I did convert to Steam, I'd build my own rather than buy any of the announced systems. As the £500 PC thread has shown, you can do a far better job of spec'ing components and then shove the SteamOS on the end result and buy a couple of steam gamepads. The market for OEM built steam computers is exactly the same market as there was for OEM built 3D0's and mac clones in the early 90's. OEM's are never going to get a compelling price/performance because unlike MS and Sony they can't take a loss on the hardware. The problem Valve have is convince Windows PC users to install SteamOS, atleast in dual boot, and getting a large enough installed userbase in SteamOS (Linux) to make AAA's want to develop for the platform. It's that chicken and egg that has Valve partnering with OEM's and I looks to me as if it might back fire on them.

Everything they've said so far point to 2015 for Europe. The problem is I think they are looking at EU as a whole rather than rolling out in the UK seperate from France/Germany/etc. They reason they're given is "Europe has a more complex broadband market". That said I'd love to be proved wrong...

That's summer in the US We're unlikely to see it before 2015. On the plus side they are talking about implementing multiple payment options - buy games out right, rent, netflix style subscriptions, etc. I'll be very interested in an affordable netflix style all you can eat subscription to access a back catalogue of PS1 games in particular.

IMHO, Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and, eventually, driverless cars is the real answer to the problem. Then maybe we can do motorway speeds of 100mph+, tailgating all the way, without causing phantom jams and conjestion.

Doctor Who Fans: Peter Capaldi Begins Filming On Doctor Who

I thought that was his new dress/style. Certainly looked that way to me at the end of the Christmas special. It looked to me like they're going back to a more Hartnell type character and more Edwardian dress. -
Seriously - is it worth the advertising losses to even bother?
