  1. Ive got my squid box exposed to the internet so its acting as the gateway for the network, its got all ports open to the outside world on it. What firewall rules should i be using to give me decent protection. Currently ive got a one to drop all traffic that isnt established or related but that isnt a good level of protection is it? Thanks Jack

  11. Master Master is possible. I'll have a look about clustering Search
  12. It isnt specifically for load-balancing. But in master-slave i cant write to the database if the master is down can i? I prefer having the stuff hosted at home i'm not doing anything requiring high-bandwidth so its fine. The mail server itself is also fine, ive checked it and its not an open relay, and all my mail is relayed through BT's mail servers so i don't get mail blocked.
  13. I've got MySQL master-master replication setup fine on two servers. I was wondering if theres a solution to this, if one server goes down it ends up out of sync with the other server. Is there any way automatically on startup for it to try and get up to date with the other server. I know i could do that manually but it would be time consuming and ideally i would like it to be automated. Thanks Jack
  14. They seem to be discontinued on the site that that site links to.

  16. I've got 3 network cards in my debian box, ive got two that are on the same subnet which are 192.168.2.1/255.255.252.0 and 192.168.2.10/255.255.252.0 When i send traffic to 192.168.2.10 it goes through the 192.168.2.1 card, i presume this is some sort of routing issue. How can i fix it so that the traffic for each ip goes through the correct network card for it? Thanks Jack
  17. Hi Ive got a BT Homehub which im not using as the actual router for the broadband its just a spare AP. Ive noticed its making alot of ARP requests (more than any other device) and its making them alot. I've attached some screenshots from wireshark. Is this just something because of the homehub or is it somesort of network mis-configuration. The range im using is 192.168.1.0-192.168.3.0/255.255.252.0. The BT Homehub is 192.168.1.5 (its Thompson...etc on the wireshark logs). The thing ive noticed is that there is no such device as 192.168.1.150, 192.168.1.50 and 192.168.3.203 Thanks Jack

  22. I'm a student, but im not here to find vulnerabilities in peoples networks and exploit them and look for proxies...although i understand all students arnt like me. But i think the having a verified status section would reduce posts on the public forums which would make things more boring for people like me who wouldn't be able to get in there Jack
  23. Could i possibly see the script? And can the script recursively search dirs?
  24. Hi, I've got a big folder with lots of subfolders that contain files with a specfic name e.g. PL0123_A, these names are also stored inside a access database. I need to make a script that will scan for all .dwg files in a directory recursively. Then i need to look up each files name in the Access database see what the description is for that file and append it to the filename by renaming. Does anyone have any advice on whats the best language to do it in? And how i would do it easily...some code snippets would be nice Thanks Jack
  25. Oh didnt look at the other projects lol
