Have you been into exchange server config,client access and enabled outlook anywhere? Smoothwall should have a 443 port forward to exchange and that should be all required on it (unless it is setup as reverse proxy)

Are you pinging the actual switch or a device plugged into the switch? If you are pinging the switch it doesnt surprise me at all Does it happen to a device as well or just the switch?

Move to a 3 host cluster and buy Essentials Plus. Nowadays you can easily get the memory/cpus in 3 hosts cheaply enough for 3 hosts to be fine.

Yes you can although what you might want to consider is actually getting something like the Kemp Virtual Load balancer in front of the two and incase one goes down users can still connect. This would then be more scalable for extra rooms etc.

Looking for peoples recommendations here - I am looking for a couple of laptop cases to get for myself as my current ones have hit there age and are starting to fall apart! I work as an Tech Consultant and tend to carry a large amount of rubbish in my bag, but it all comes in useful, so I am looking for something to hold all the following: Laptop (14" Lenovo T440s) A4 Daybook Assortment of cables - Charger, couple of ethernet leads, Serial Adapter etc Screwdrivers Usb hdd's etc I want something that is fairly robust and doesn't have to be huge as a rucksack. But I am also looking for a nice bag I can slip the laptop/charger and daybook into when I need to go to meetings so it needs to look slightly nicer than the previous Any suggestions/recommendations?

at the end of the day anything that provides POE should be fine - It was just more wondering if it was something else rather than the AP's themselves causing an issue (maybe overloading/surge etc) It could just well be that you have been unluck.

But have you raised it that you have now had multiple failures? IMHO I would be looking at something which is exactly the same between all the failures - which points towards POE injectors. But it could just be a freak failure of devices.

In my experience of the kit i've never seen this issues (i support nearly 100aps across about 15 clients). The only device I have had be sent back is a Z1 security appliance. What POE injectors are you using?

Yeah the Lenovo system updater is brilliant - My laptop is really nice, not sure if it is 100% the same as the T440 as it is the S range (its this) but then I liked the touchpad on my old one and everybody hated that!

I've got my T440s and the trackpad was a little strange to get used to but after a day or two i got used to it

If you are looking for only a few aps in various offices look at the Meraki kit. The setup takes 20 mins max!
