Yes - what you normally do is transfer the domain and point to the original name servers - then once it has transferred setup you dns records and then change those records.

I'm not saying all ZFS arrays are bad - some are very good in background defragging and organising data nicely. The problem is the devices which don't do it nicely! I'm not 100% Nimble - Like I do with any customer you need to understand what they want to do from the device and how they need to do it, the performance requirements before choosing the device. I work with HP Lefthand (Some MSA's), Nimble, DotHill/EMC/NetApp/Open-E (Software SAN) and both Dell ranges and have done the tech training on Nimble/Dell (Equallogic only)/Open-E (not on the new ZFS based system though) I have never worked with the Oracle devices they may well be fantastic but personally I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole - just like I wouldn't dell servers, one of those IT things imho everybody has stuff the wouldn't use and stuff they would use and not everyone has to agree!

Raid 5 is not beeze neeze at all I'm not saying that, just i wouldn't use ZFS - with a ZFS array the more data you put on it the worse performance you get due to fragmentation

Have a look at nimble, if you want more info on them (they are amazing!!) I can put you in touch with the right people. Personally i wouldnt use a ZFS array with a barge pole!

If it is migrated properly you should be able to do this with zero downtime.

under ipconfig /all does it say the DHCP server is the servers IP address? If so login go to Administrative Tools/DHCP and set the DHCP options for DNS server to the Domain controllers IP's.

On your local machine or on the domain controller itself?

Look at the new HP business inkjets - they sre very good and one of them even does 70ppm in good quality. They havr changed the way the ink gets transferred to the paper

Got clients that use them as cheap sans for dr, never really stress tested. The HP P2000 is a rebadged dothill and is a low end san and pretty good. Nimble sans are brilliant and they features they keep bringing out are brilliant!!

You don't want to do that - There ideally you want to keep the amount of shares down. Also you wouldnt be able to automatically setup the folder through AD if the user folder is the share itself. You want \\servername\share$\%Username%

Ok - every time I have done this they have automatically stacked themselves - but this was fresh out of the box connectivity.

They have a cheap one at the moment which works but we need to use HDMI as it is built into the building at the moment.

Yes - 3 different models of laptops and multiple cables. Vision have confirmed it is an issue with the splitter but only with laptops. They have Lifesize Video Conference equipment which works fine. This is what is outputted on both TV's from the laptop. It is being investigated by there R & D team in Australia now.

Dear the Edugeek faithfull, After have a few issues with the Vision HDMI splitter (this) and an issue they don't seem to be able to resolve with the HDMI splitter not outputting from laptops correctly (infact at all). Does anybody use and recommend an HDMI splitter which works with Laptops and other audio visual equipment? Thanks Toby

What you have there is correct. Some people use 127.0.0.1 but i wouldnt recommend that

You can add additional hosts with more memory easily. Which Dell San are you going for? I can see lots of issues coming out of dell with them merging equallogic and compollent ranges together. Plus IMHO equallogic is old tech now.

Don't work in a company where I can do that.

This is a bit random - but looking out to people on here that use Bikes (not the motor variety!) I am after a hybrid bike I think as although I would predominately use the bike on the road I would like to have the ability to take it through the woods every now and then. Probably looking max of £750/800 Thanks in advance!
