Don't know where you are based in Cumbria but LUNS are able to offer connections to schools. Worth giving Robin Williams or Scott Daniels a shout. The CLEO price hike seems to be seeing many people reviewing their connectivity.

The iPad seems choosy. I've tried a Kindle USB plug and one that came with our Mimio Eteach and neither worked.

I don't know if PARS is an additional product and you have SIMS as well but if you do SOLUS3 will also allow you to deploy .Net 4 framework too.

Our ICT department is teaching it at the moment. They seem to love it and it engages the students.

It tends to vary lender to lender and deal to deal how much you can overpay by. It does make a big difference though. My mortgage has 17 years on it and by paying just £100 a month more it reduces to 12 years. Hopefully when my son actually starts a regular job I can put a bit more than that in.

Ok, I could do with shifting this so £25 including delivery anyone?

I can't say I have any problems of that nature with Office 2010 and SIMS. I use it a lot and it seems to run fine.

We had similar problems and a complete lack of support from Steljes. They refuse to admit there is an issue despite so many people having issues. Think we'll go for normal projectors and Mimio Teach in the future!

Office 2010 all the way. The way I saw it put was Office 2007 v Office 2010 is like Vista v Win 7 i.e. Office 2007 is good but 2010 is the finished article.

I will take the last 31 off you if possible. I'll PM you.

We've just ordered Smoothwall too. So far the demo looks good and Rob at Smoothwall has been excellent. Looking forward to getting it up and running.

If we can come up with a way of getting them to Kendal I would probably take the lot

We broke last week. Did a day and not been in since (the joys of term time only contacts). Back in 26th to 28th then 4 more days off! I have to say April has been pretty good this year.

Advice pls - Notice Periods Network Manager
jcollings replied to balticstar's topic in Educational IT Jobs
I am on a 3 month notice period and I was at my previous employer too. When I got my current post (which involved relocating) I talked it through with my line manager and he agree to half the notice period. Whenever I have moved jobs I've found both the company I am leaving and the one I am moving to to be flexible. -
We are getting staff and students to use Sharepoint's My Site for document storage. Shared Areas will move that way soon for many of the reasons listed.

We try not to do things (unless vital) between 8am and 4.30pm. If we plan to do soemthing later on I usually get someone to come in late and stay late but that's only for vital stuff. Other than that we have an agreement that the 1st Monday of the holidays the system is "at risk" - I confirm two weeks before the impending holiday if that means small areas down or a whole network outage while we re-arrange the server rack etc. People seem happy enough to work with that. I think as long as people are given plenty of notice it's fair enough to take things down occasionally. I do also end up remoting in at night to do some work too but the school are very flexible when it comes to time off so I can't complain.

Not sure about that - I know our designated child protection officers don't get any TLR or wage increase for it. They are members of SLT in the main so are paid for it as part of their SLT duties (but not a higher rate than other SLT). The ones who aren't are are our Learning mentors and they don't get any cash for it.

Sorry - just worked out the iPaq is the HP Pocket PC h4100 series not the h1900

I'll try and get some for you tomorrow but it's pretty standard and in excellent condition due to very little use. Price is negotiable so if you want to PM me that's fine.
