We use it as our public website. It works really well for us.

We get mainly reman toners from our Cartridge World franchise. We worked closely with them to develop the process and quality. We don't have more than a couple of inkjets left so it's mainly toner. We are currently moving all our printers (25 ish) to leased multifunction devices (Xerox) and leased printers. A local company is leasing us the printers on a per print basis using Kyocera kit - 12 month contract, small deposit then just a price per page. All toners and servicing included. I've moved 6 of them to this scheme soon and the others will follow in the next 3 to 6 months. The printers are outstanding, very high quality and it means we'll only have 1 type of printer across the site and virtually no maintenance.

The post is scheduled to start in the last week of summer hols so back end of August.

That is simply not true! Our local MP is fantastic and works extremely hard for us in local issues and has done many good things for the area.

We have similar situation - only Lib Dem or Tories get any votes here really. The Lib Dem won by 247 last time! Really hoping he can do it again as he's been great and worked very hard in the area.

If you're really not happy there (and 3 months is quite a short time to know) then do it. It will cost money but in the scheme of things your happiness is worth much more than cash (IMHO). I bought and sold a flat within 8 months because I hated it - it cost me a couple of grand but the relief I felt when I handed the keys overs was immense!

I have to agree with localzuk on this one. You can make it look and feel how you like. We reviewed Kaleidos when we were casting round and our platform looks nothing like it despite both being based around Sharepoint.

The article I heard on the radio was saying it depends on the company. Some are paying out and some aren't. Some also said whilst this wouldn't usually be covered on their policies they are going to pay out this time round. Also if you bought your ticket on a credit card you may be covered. It was on Saturday's Moneybox on Radio 4 if people want to hear it for themselves.

I guess it could also be a pain at exam time etc when students need to access the apps but not the internet. I'm sure that is solvable but it's just something else to think about.

Yes - we used Samsungs a lot in the early days of laptops for teachers and they seemed ok. We also use loads on NC10 etc netbooks and they seem good too. Mind you I could equally say that about Tosh & Lenovo as we've had good experiences of that too. The processor would swing it for me if I were choosing. Thing about laptops for teachers is they send the laptop but still make us keep the teachers - I thought it was a swap scheme!

Well in our school all staff need SIMS "urgently" as it is used for registration every lesson, report cards & logging of behaviour incidents etc. I'd say if it didn't work here it would be considered urgent!

Yep - I'd turn it down potentially if that was all I was going for. I have done in the past in fact. Sometimes it's true to say there is more to life than money. It would depend on a range of things to me 1) How unhappy I was in my current post 2) What opportunities exist in the new post for development career progression etc 3) Would I be any happier overall For me (and I'm very lucky where I work) I love the variety of school life, not just in IT terms but the drama, the residentials, working with the kids etc and I know somewhere like a council would bore me to death. It really depends on the whole package IMHO not just the money. When I was contemplating a move once a good friend said to consider if I was running away from something or running towards something cos if all you're doing is running away from something chances are it might not be a whole lot better. If it's something you really want to do and you're runnning towards it then it will probably work out ok. Just my 2p worth you understand.
