Me too for classrooms and Offices... usually get i5 NUC with 8 Gig and 240 SSD my workstation though is i7 16Gig and 512 SSD as like others have said we get asked to do stuff like reprocess video... and i sometimes spin up VMs to test stuff...

we use Paxton and still on v5.32818.3674 and the client wont install on 1809 or Server 2019 just get an error on setup... i need to update either to v5.04.6217.0 as this does install but wont talk to older version.... or upgrade to v6

i set it up ages ago via SQL Managment Studio to the point i have moved it from one old SQL server to another .... i really cant remember how i got the date to auto install or the SignID (the key) to auto incrament... but looking at the DB in SQL the constraints must have something to do with inserting the date and the Trigger basically cleans up anything over a year old so the DB doesnt grow indefinatley Trigger: Edit: i do have the source code for the front end that i use still

we use login and out VBS scripts that shove the information into a SQL Express database... the database timestamps it as the row is writen so the time is correct (incase the workstation is out) i wrote a c# program to interogate it this is the basic content of the sign in script. obviously that doesnt help with previous ones... but its probably worth setting something up we use this all the time....

how does user loggin work with shared devices like ipads? we use EXA Surfprotect and unless they are loged into a domain computer we only have ip addresses we can trace activity by

ive recabled some with 10m vga leads... so yes some are over 5m others maybe not... probably best to order some and try... but we havent had any issues using hdmi adaptors... i have had some issues with old VGA wiering and new laptops just not working and had to rewire the vga but that is a different story issue...

we use intel NUCs cause they are tiny... and preform well... we use i5s but they do i3s and i7s too....

because we depoly Windows 10 LTSC we dont have Edge so reader al the way.... we had lots of printing problems with PDFs and Edge when we used W10 Edu.... just like everyone else

ive seen this but our exam laptops run 8.1 when printing to PDF the dialouge gets stuck behind examwritepad

i have two phisical hosts... and a virtulized Gateway + licensing + Brooker... it seems to work fine...

we use Sharepoint Foundation as our internal intranet.... nothing complicated mostly just links. i am aware that in time it will fall out of support so just wondered what people use internally? The only reason i like sharepoint is it knows whos logged in so as well as a standard landing page, Admins see and Admin page and Students get a student page, Staff get a staff page with staff links on. i happly setup wordpress so when i moved to sharepoint i did toy with the idea of using that... but just curious what others do...

i guess it depends on what you use it for!! - ours are mostly used for remote access ie from home.. not for classroooms of thin clients. they are getting a bit old now but are fine for the remote access there normaly isnt more than a handfull on at once and we have two in the farm.. But i would go with Lots of ram - and as many cores as you can afford - use SSDs maybe even stripe the SSDs.. if you can have 2 in the farm it helps with patching etc...
