Automated account enabling and disabling
Domino replied to Roberto's topic in Network and Classroom Management
What about creating a custom mmc for it? Create Taskpads for Active Directory Operations Delegate control, give them only the enable/disable button, only for the accounts required. Manual control, less chance of messing something up -
Doesn't change the fact that they're not obliged to provide spares... If it was in warranty and had a hardware failure I imagine they'd replace it with a newer model - consumer rights don't have any bearing in this situation

Could you not setup a local relay? Microsoft Corporation Authenticate that with tls, etc outbound, but let the internal connect with only ip address security for instance?

I'm paying a bank. I tried paying a squirrel, but it didn't really work. -

Server Virtualisation..The options? Your opinions & feedback...

That's over our global sites - we've a fair few clusters in that ;-) The vmware EA isn't as good value as it used to be either :-( It's also likely to double next year, so unless there's something really wrong with hyper-v it's the way to go for us. -

BOOM - it's rubbish. Apparently it works much better if your gateway address is the first address on it's subnet (eg. x.x.x.1 ) - so all you've gotta do is rebuild your network architecture ;-) This terrible product caused us to remove all microsoft firewalls from edge roles, and we'd been ISA totally before that -

Nope, you licence Physical Processors. That means any processors the vm's licenced by datacenter can run on need to be licenced for datacentre edition. We're looking to move our internal infrastructure from vmware to hyper-v, as the vmware licencing for 60 CPUs is getting ridiculous, and with datacentre processor licencing in place we're only needing to licence SCVMM to get very close to the same functionality. VMware vSphere 4 vs. Microsoft Hyper-V R2 - Whitepaper | CTI Strategy Blog I'm hoping to get out first UK based Hyper-v cluster up in the next few weeks, so may well write up the experience, coming from a vmware background. -
Aye, it's up to the staff to prove legality, don't get caught jumping through hoops for them. Also, if you're under an LEA it might be worth getting in contact and asking if they've a copyright manager/administrator. I built a good relationship with my last LEAs one and he helped me write some guidance documents that got issued to all local schools. they'll also be able to help with any licence purchases you may need..

Well you wouldn't need a portal from inside right? as they're already AD integrated? as @jamesfed says, you're really looking at Unified Access Gateway for this: Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) | Secure Remote Access

That picture password sounds like it makes shoulder surfing much easier, great! You can hide which key you push on a keyboard, you can't hide the mouse pointer on your monitor....

Yes, and apparently with the certificate enrollment wizard on the machine, rather than the IIS one: How to Request a Certificate With a Custom SAN I ask why because many of the new MS products that require SANs actually have their own certificate request wizards...
