I'd say that controlling the light is the correct resolution rather than installing brighter monitors. Many years ago at a new build site they wanted to install an external projector to advertise the business. We were asked to spec up but we said it wouldn't work. They got in a third party who sold us and installed the projector. Nobody could see the image so we were called to fix it. You can't win against the sun, but no one wanted to hear this. In the end I had to ask what people could see outside of the window the last time they went to the cinema. It took a while to get the point across but it finally got through and the installation was retired. It still came up as a new project every year though during the cap ex budget requests.

I looked into that, but they haven't built it yet, and the planning consent has some conditions on it - https://www.dpea.scotland.gov.uk/Document.aspx?id=714736 - but I hope it does come off as it may be a good model for the future. However you'll still be hit by the approved suppliers standing charge which has all but doubled.

I'd probably give it to my daughter who will get some valuable use from it, whilst I wait patiently for my ZX Spectrum Next.

Same with the immunosuppressed. A colleague has had 4 vaccinations as in the extremely vulnerable group, but has been told they may still end up with no immunity after being jabbed due to the medications needed for other conditions.

Had a similar issue with a satellite site some years back. Short outages that tended to happen at similar times of the day. Turned out to be a crane on a local building project that was swinging by large loads that obscured the line-of-site microwave link we had been using. We managed to upgrade to a fibre link after that.

Can I ask who out there have appointed a new DPO (or outsourced the provision), or who has added the role to an existing post (and what that post was)?

Sorry for resurrecting the thread, but this pixel fault sounds like the dreaded Texas Instruments DMD chip error, which drives the DLP engine. We have suffered this on DLP projectors from several manufacturers so it isn't just affecting Casio. That said I haven't seen it on any of the A or M series Casio's that we have on site. What I have had though, twice is the image going very pinky rose on an M series. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a simple fix before I arrange another return.

Two of our PRM-35 projectors have started to develop the dreaded white/black pixel speckle that we have had on other manufacturers DLP projectors that was traced to a known fault with the DMD chip. Has anyone else had this issue on the PRM-35 and is it the same cause? We have quite a number of PRM-35 projectors and I would hate to think they may all suddenly start to develop this problem. Or could it be something different?

It is the Toshiba DMD chip, there was a dodgy batch some years back. I would guess these would be around 4/5 years old?

The 6065 we saw had the Roth soundbar attached, but I think it is an optional extra.

This one - SMART Board 6065 interactive flat panel - SMART Technologies Very different in terms of technology (Camera and LED based rather than IR) and the display looked amazing with a 4K source, but there are only a few units in the country at the moment so we only had it for one day. Stock arriving immintently so I am told. I don't do pricing, sorry.

We were sent one of these to evaluate the other week, then they took it back and gave us the new model which was replacing it. It was a nice panel other than that.

One of these has just arrived on my desk. Nice big image from the short throw distance, but it is fairly large and quite a weight (just over 7kg) in comparison to the existing Sanyo and Promethean projectors. Has anyone actually mounted one of these onto a Promethean boom?

If it is just switching between the two IR channels then the instructions are also in the manual I think. Students here seem to know it somehow anyway. I am always having to reset the remotes - although maybe they are actually changing the channel on the projector which is a menu item but has the same effect.

We have a mixed economy of Promethean Boards across our site +2, 300 and 500 series, and so have always needed to get two different pens for staff. I recently heard a rumour that you could now get a single pen that did both. Is this true and if so what is the model/order code, please?

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on our ActivHub and ActivExpression handsets, but when searching for upgrades I keep getting a HTTP error and it is not connecting to the upgrade server. I have checked with our network guys and asked them to check the proxy, but they suggest it isn't an issue with our systems. Is there an issue here, or is there anything specific I need to advise them of in relation to the firwall/proxy/ports, etc?

3 Chip DLP was getting a big push at BETT this year. 3D compatability and all that. We have a mix of DLP and LCD at the moment. No filters to clean on DLP and with the recent ones we have had no complaints over quality. Agree the early DLP projectors looked terrible though.

I'm looking at upgrading the projector in our lecture theatre to fully make use of the rather nice HD amp we have in there now. We currently have a 4000 lumens Sanyo PLC-XU110 with a 1.65-1.95:1 lens. I am looking for something which will be native widescreen, have HDMI as well as the usual inputs (VGA/DVI, composite and S-Video?), and be at least as bright. Something with a serial control port for AMX would be good too. Any recommendations? I suppose we could route any SD composite video via HDMI too if those connections are unavailable.
