Just seen that ActivInspire is now up to version 1.6 and we have 1.4 rolled out on our machines. Would this make a difference?

Hi We have a couple of 587 boards running ActivInspire on Windows 7 with the 5.7 driver. We have got dual touch working with the teacher and student pen, and single finger touch, but we cannot seem to get multi-finger touch working? When a second finger touch is introduced the cursor just jumps from the first touch point to the second which makes it hard to manipulate objects. Are we missing a software setting or something? Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks Nathan

That's what the installers must have done then. Little trouble on our 78" +2's, just the 68" that display such issues.

Oh they are mounted feet upwards on an Activ+2 boom on their mount. Just that they sometimes project down at such an angle it's no wonder it's drifted by the bottom of the board. They also (on 64 boards) cast well over the actual board in a massive trapezium. Takes hefty use of the keystone to get them anywhere near right and even when you try to get a pixel match (1024x768) the image still looks badly scaled sometimes. I for one whould never dismantle a lens assembly!

You can never get them totally in focus anyway due to the lens and the angle/distance they project at the board. If the top is in focus the bottom is out and vice versa. Best to get it sharp somewhere in the middle and hope for the best.

I was in Sainsbury's yesterday and the guy at the till in front of me was denied buying a lighter for the candles he was also purchasing because he didn't look 25. He easily looked early 20s though.

They don't offer you the option to delete your account, merely disable it.

That's great. It was a general reminder for those using any system of storage and retreival though. Even with a licence you have responsibilities.

Remember that even with the appropriate ERA licence all content has to be labelled with specific information and the rlevant disclaimer must be readable on all content covered. It also only covers the bodies that subscribe to it which is really BBC, ITV Channel 4 and Five and their associated Freeview cousins.

We had some really dodgy PSUs from China with the CE mark - they looked lethal - got them swapped out by the manufacturer.

We test ourselves - well Formal Visual Inspection anyway which does need a full look over. Full Inspection and Testing frequencies depend on the equipment, environment and usage - so depends where it is and how it's treated.

Oh we change the lamp at the relevant intervals. It's totally unconnected. We had a chunk fail like this shortly after installation when new. Promethean had a fix for it which invovlved going into the service mode and stepping up the fan speed and thermal cut out temperature, but it still happens on occasion. Note that the Promethean branded PR20s never had this issue even though they are otherwise the same projector.

Yes, of course they are PAT tested. I don't know how you get away with ignoring them?

You're quite welcome. We have a LOT of these projectors so I'm quite used to doing it now. That said it's only a very small proportion of the whole batch and we are into year 3 of these now.

No, if it gets hot it will close down till it is cool enough to operate. If it gets too hot the physical trip will go and the projector won't turn on at all until it is reset as explained above. If the machine is turning on and then turning off then it isn't that switch. There are some settings within the service mode that increases that max temperature and fan speed to make that less likely, but it is noisier and you can mess up other settings if not done correctly. I'm not an expert though, but that is my understanding.

If it powers up then down it sounds like it could be a soft thermal trip which won't need the machine pulling apart. Have you cleaned the filtersor checked the lamp timer.

But you wouldn't have the insight or working knowledge of how it all works (or doesn't). Isn't it best to get feedback from those in the system that can see the good practice and failures? You wouldn't get anything productive out of some bloke from down the street with no expertise in your business who marches in your office and tells you how to run things. All of this should be fed back anyway via good practice forums. It doesn't need more public expenditure and setting up a team, who are likely to be paid far more than those suggesting the ideas in the first place. It's going to cost more money in the long run and more cushy jobs for the cronies Dave and Nick get to manage it.

Cameron did say prior the the election that the North East would be a target for cuts (again) as he said that the tax spend was highest. However later research showed that the tax spend in the region is infact average for the UK (that is pounds per head) and that actually the highest is London!

The main thing about todays cuts though is that the majority of the public voted against them. Both Labour and the Lib Dems supported spend this year and cut the year after to consolidate the recovery. Clegg himself said this was a mistake when debating with Cameron in the TV debates. Seems those that agreed with Nick are now finding that he didn't agree with himself.

You do need Firewire if you want live capture which was a real pain because all cameras within budget (£200) are now just USB. In the end we had to source a discontinued miniDV camera for a touch over that amount.

That'll be why they just cut hospital building programmes, roads and job creation schemes then, with school cuts imminent - announcement to follow apparently. The country hasn't gone down the pan over the last 13 years, but it has struggled to cope with the legacy of the 1980s and the selling off of social housing stock, the selling off of public utilities and services, the mass unemployment and a trickle down approach to finances which hoped that money fed it at the very top would trickle down to those at the bottom, whereas what actually happened was those at the top just kept it, thankyou very much. Once the family silver was sold, and the social problems were exarcerbated, how exactly do you pull yourself out of that - revenue streams gone to line another fat cats pockets. At least tax credits were some attempt at redistribution of wealth, and we wouldn't be in the current financial state if it wasn't for the US causing a global problem.

If Cameron had any wherewithall he could save even more money by abolishing the role of Deputy Prime Minister

As far as I can see we have just had what the Tories said they were going to do anyway, and what the Lib Dems stood against. I can't see any of it tempered, and all on some pipedream of a referendum on PR that the conservatives said they would campaign against anyway (and still haven't promised to put it in law should the referendum be in the affirmative).
