I've been to Prague and they are real.

I have a problem with a group of courses in one particular category, and that is that I can't re-order them. I've selected half a dozen other categories at random and can arrange the courses in them alphabetically or in any particular order, but not this group of courses. Has anyone encountered this problem before?

RESOLVED: When setting up the template to image out a suite of machine you can also instruct Acronis Snap Deploy to rename each machine. I thought I was using the correct format, but in fact it ended up that each machine was to be given the same name, and so all but one machine was dropped when sending out the image. I've gone back to using sysprep for the image(s) for the time being, ignoring completely the options offered by Acronis, and I've imaged out a couple of suites without any problems.

We're due to become a fully managed service in 2012, and I've been looking at ways to prepare staff for the change. One of our faculties recently agreed to consult the IT techs before buying a printer, but in the end they simply went ahead and bought one which we wouldn't have recommended. As with a fully managed service, there is a catalogue of hardware from which the MSP would like us to buy, and which they would support. I've explained this to the head of this particular faculty and said that as this is "non catalogue" i.e., we weren't consulted, there would be a nominal charge of £125 for installing it. Do you think that's about right?

The Register article is by it's very nature a summary, but it quotes LINX as saying . Though the eradication of child pornography is imortant, CEOP is about much more than this. Child protection covers many areas and it is to be hoped that the government and LINX recognize this.

Originally Child Benefit was paid directly to the father through an alteration to his tax code. The change to paying mothers served two purposes, 1. Low income fathers may have ended up paying no tax and therefore not receiving the full child benefit 2. It is more likely that the mother's name will appear on a child's birth certificate (c/f Ed Milliband). The reason Child Benefit is a Universal Benefit is that it costs more to to assess which families deserve it than to administer it as a UB. The new Tax Break which has been hinted at by David Cameron has been calculated to cost in the region of £750,000, whereas the amount of Child Benefit saved by the tory proposal is approximately £1billion. £44,000 may seem a lot of money but if you live in the south east of the country it doesn't go as far as some of us would believe, so if only one person in the family is earning over the threshold of £44,000, losing child benefit makes a huge difference.

I would normally have spent more time looking for a solution but this morning we had notice of a full Level 5 Ofsted inspection beginning this Wednesday. So no panic there then.

Tho' I can see the Reset Lamp hours item in the menu I can't actually enter and reset the hours to zero. Has anyone come across this and how have they solved it?

Thanks GD. He told me last night that the temperature over there is currently 46degC. There's not an ounce of fat on him as he gets to his running weight, so heaven knows what he's going to look like after a marathon. We made the decision to go with Vimeo as Kaltura seems to throw up problems. Of course this could all fall down if the internet solution provided for the athletes is poor.

Our Head of D & T is due to go out to India shortly and represent England in the Marathon event at the Commonwealth Games, and we thought it would be a good idea for him to post a blog via our Moodle VLE. Apart from this online diary he's also hoping to post interviews as MP3s and/or videocasts. Does anyone out there in Edugeekshire have any suggestions as to additional ways he might provide a richer online experience for our pupils? I forgot to add that we'll also attempt to use Skype with small groups of pupils.

Do you really need the features of a VLE/Learning Platform? Wouldn't something like Joomla fulfill the requirements of points 1, 2, 3 & 5? You'd have to do a little digging for Point 4. Those rumours regarding Frog are true in your case.

We currently use Moodle but our Managed Service Provider (MSP) is going to move us to OpenHive, and I think that if you work in a state school and you're going to have a managed service this is something you should bear in mind. We are a few years down the line with Moodle and most staff are now happy using it, their 'big fear' is the change to the new Learning Platform (LP) and will all the work they've put in to producing material for Moodle be thrown away. While I've tried to reassure them that most of it will transfer across without much hassle it would help if the MSP was a little more forthcoming in its support.

Acronis Snap Deploy was initially installed on my colleague's (XP) machine when the problem was first encountered. It was a couple of weeks after that we moved it to a VM with Win2008.

We bought Acronis Snap Deploy 3 several months ago, and it had been working fine until shortly into the summer vacation. Since then it has proceeded normally picking up the PXE server, and all the machines are registering in the Deployment Console, but when I hit the Proceed button all the machines bar one simply reboot with the remaining machine imaging normally. Since then we have installed the software on its own VM server (Win2008) without any outside software interference other than the OS, but it still repeats the above problem. We have a call with Acronis but everything they have recommended has so far failed. I'm at a loss to understand why the software should be functioning normally and 24 hours later presenting this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hate to be pedantic, but the weather forecasters are employed by the Met Office, not the BBC, and from what I've heard, don't get paid as much as one might think.

Use a Hasselblad (or similar) with a waist-level viewer, and hold the camera at waist level once focused as this just about evens out perspective. Use a fill-in flash. Don't go down the digital route, use film and locate a professional lab to process the stuff, though a digital SLR would be handy for some informal stuff as people are beginning to relax after the ceremony. Introduce yourself to the best man and get him to round up the various family groups as and when you require them. You can't always get all the shots you need at the church/registry office, so if there's a park nearby, or the reception is at a decent hotel with grounds do the bulk of your work there. And this being England there's always a chance of rain, so check out where the reception is being held beforehand, if you can. Don't attempt more than two weddings in a day, one morning, one afternoon, with plenty of time between them; the levels of concentration will leave you drained. I used to get my pictures back from the lab on a Monday, and found that I couldn't sleep much on the Sunday night before.
