  1. Synaesthesia, My comment was more a reflection on how excellent SIMS is. As I said in another post, it is about time those that really do know SIMS started challenging the disparaging posts that seem to regularly crop up on these forums. No disrespect to the members here but there does seem to be a general lack of knowledge from some contributors. If you have problems with SIMS then refer to SupportNet (or your Support Desk) and get the help you need, rather than offering such unwarranted negative comments here! John - I totally agree with you re. LA Hosted. What you describe is exactly what B2B is designed to do - both for Pupils and for Staff!
  2. There are a handful of Serco Schools in Sheffield. Some of the staff I refer to have been at one or more of them!
  3. Also refer to SupportNet where this topic was discussed at some great length.
  4. Apologies if I mislead anybody. That was not my intention. It was just to demonstrate that Schoolcomms maybe has a closer working arrangement with SIMS than maybe some other systems. This is one of the reasons we chose it after looking at others in real working environments.
  5. Some of it is happening already Jo! Move to Serco? NEVER! Not while I am here anyway. The stories that some of our current staff (Teachers and Support) tell me about their experiences! They cannot believe how efficient and flexible SIMS is!
  6. Thanks for the info, Marsh, but I was aware of all that anyway! Not what you know - just who you know eh?
  7. Check out the threads on SupportNet. This is a very popular subject and keeps cropping up at regular intervals.
  8. Why do you want to delete the Behaviour Incidents when you can set a date in SLG from which you wish the Behaviour Incidents to be viewed?
  9. In Capitaes SupportNet check out both KB72730 to see how to set it up and KB81392 to see how to set up Lesson Monitor to match the model you require.
  10. Every single group that exits in SIMS can be used in Schoolcomms - Years, Classes, UDGs, Exam Cohorts etc etc. Response texts re. Absence are written directly back to SIMS Attendance with the Attendance Office just having to supply the Absence Code. The body of the text can even be written directly into the Comment on the Session/Class Register. How much more interactive do you want?
  11. Matt, Have a look at Capita SLG Hosted Service!
  12. Comet, With a little bit of ingenuity you can tailor the different Fields to what the school requires. And when you set up a new Behavior type then you can input the Points as part of the procedure. You can also edit the current ones. See KB74379. Maybe you should subscribe to SupportNet. You will probably get a better response there.
  13. Some Texting Software products interface better with SIMS than others do. It is not a coincidence that Schoolcomms is on the SIMS Homepage!
  14. Flattery will get you everywhere, Phil! Matt is on SupportNet now so I am sure he will pick a few brains! And Matt - yep, get on those courses.
  15. Matt, Have you seen SLG in action? If not then I suggest you do. It will be even better when the Upgrades promised by the SLG Roadmap are delivered.
  16. Exactly! That is why we could never go to using a web-based system exclusively. This summer two years ago we had no web access here for a number of days due to the summer flooding. That would be an impossible situation to manage!
  17. But it also means that you are totally screwed if the connection goes down for any reason! I would not like to have to rely totally on a web-based system!
  18. The first release of the new Reporting Engine, which may be using Silverlight, is due for release in March of next year!
  19. Good for you kiran! I have been reading these forums for quite a while before I started subscribing. There always seems to be a very negative attitude to SIMS by many subscribers. It is about time that those who know that SIMS is an excellent system started refuting some of the adverse comments that regularly appear.
  20. Reporting in SIMS is actually very, very good. You just need plenty of training, practice and experience.
  21. You can create the Aspect in AM7 and then import the actual data from a Spreadsheet once you can match a field to the new Aspect.
  22. As I understood it, this was just for the new Reporting Engine. Do you know more FN-GM?
  23. The ideal solution is to get SLG2. Registers, AM7 Assessments and Profiles7 Reports can all be completed online.
  24. Quite a few of us have being doing this already via SIMS Learning Gateway. I thoroughly recommend it. It is working now and will be much better and more comprehensive over the next few months as the proposed upgrades arrive. As stated above, Staff are now more accountable for doing things correctly and on time.
