I assume you are uploading the Results files produced by the Boards and that you are using SIMS! This error can happen with very large results files. If done on the server there is usually no problem. There is a KB on SupportNet - KB77977.

That is right Phil. You can 'Delete' them and then Hide them in NT4 (It doesn't really delete) and you can delete them from NT6 because that is a remote Dataset.

I do! I had been on the UAT remember! - but we were not fully convinced I would be able to get all the data in for today when the August Release was postponed. Because I was the only one working I was also not 100% sure I had all the data and that it was correct. Wading through the QANs etc was a new experience for me - we are only 11-16. Also - the LA require the spreadsheet for other uses!

You only have the Exclusion from Cover Routine because I spotted it during the Cover7 Field Trial (others probably did too!). We have about 30 Offices setup in there as Rooms - because if PC equipment etc allocated in Equipment Register. So I easily spotted it as an issue for Cover7!

Brilliant! Having used the Non-EDI Routine I can only say what a major improvement this is. Our Data Manager has his own way of calculting the Performance figures. He also has an LA 'Qualcalculator' which is completed for the LA and also produces the Performance figures. I have used the SIMS method and we have exact agreement (apart from the odd imput error that we need to identify). SIMS EO obviously did it a lot quicker as the results were automtically pulled into the PI Calculation whereas my colleague had to import all of them into his Spreadsheets before doing the claculations. Congratulations Capita. What we now need for next year is Reports that can be generated using the data shown in the 'Edit PI Data' screen. i.e. Print Offs of each extra Qual we have added. Never really satisfied am I?

Good luck with it Matt. make sure you have checked the Exam Board websites before you try to import results - especially if you do Upgrade to August Release. There is a Post, by Charles, in one of the Exams thread on this on SupportNet.

Well I went for the August Release and all is well so far. The input of Non-EDI Quals in EO works a treat and we should now be ready for our results next week. It certainly helps if you attend UAT Sessions !!! Once again 'Well Done Capita' !!!!!

You may recognise my Avatar on SupportNet in the Forums! Use them when you have a problem as well as looking at Web Support, Solution Search. If you had posted there first I would have picked up your query earlier. I only joined these forums as a contributor to try and change the opinion of those users with negative attitudes. I had been reading these Forums for quite a while before I started my 'crusade' and could not believe some of the comments I was reading, many of which were blatantly untrue. Good luck with the setup - and with your time with SIMS. SIMS is an excellent system but the person in charge of it really does need to have a comprehensive knowledge of all parts, to enable the school to utilise it to it's full potential.

No probs. Are you a member of Capita SupportNet? There are very many expert users of SIMS on there. Some contributors here have a very negative view of SIMS. I think this is partly because some do not really understand how you can mould SIMS to suit the needs of the establishment you are working in.

Whatever you type in as the Tier gives you the Role. Our Pastoral Structure says KS4 Manager (rather than just KS4). However, there is no such default role in System Manager though you could create your own, maybe by cloning the Pastoral Manager Role and then editing accordingly. It does give these staff access to all AM7 Data etc associated with any pupil in that Group (KS or Year etc.)

In the Pastoral Structure page, for the correct Year, right click the Pastoral Structure heading and then add New School Tier - name it KS3. Repeat for KS4. You can then assign the Head of each Stage. Move your Year Groups (with Reg Groups) into these Tiers. Assign the Head of Year as appropriate again using right click. We have exactly this setting that you require. I am not so sure I would want to make these changes so close to the new school year, however. Ensure you have an up-to-date backup that works! And be careful you do not lose some of your data as you move it - years and classes in particular!

Matt - just as I suggested agood few posts ago. It seems some of 'em don't listen! (or read!) Many don't use SupportNet or Twitter or LinkedIn, so is it any wonder that such posts appear here ........? Strange .....!

Well at least one of the 22,000+ will take exception from that remark ........... SIMS does a brilliant job as set up at our place. Yep you do get the odd issue (as you are bound to do with such a comprehensive system that is continually having to develop at short notice in response to DCSF 'initiatives') but Support is excellent in their response! As per another similar thread in this Forum - my last word on this Topic. It seems it is impossible to educate those that have a unfair negative opinion!

It's gotta be SIMS. Over 22,000 cannot be wrong ......................

An announcement is supposed to be going on SupportNet today but it hasn't appeared yet. I hope it is not that late. The main reason I went down to UAT was to test the NonEDI Quals bit of EO! SIMS 2009 August Update Release Date Due to an issue discovered late in testing there will be a delay to the SIMS 2009 August Update release. We will publish an updated news item containing the new release date on Monday 17th. For those schools concerned about Exams Day, I can confirm that this release is not needed for the results download days ......

That is Capita for you - the service they provide is 'excellent' - see my other posts! One assumes that is not the August Release then - if so you have it before it has gone on general release!

You don't actually 'NEED' the August Upgrade for exam results - unless of course you want the new procedure for entering Non-EDI Results. The August Upgrade is delayed anyway now, so you would be struggling to use that procedure this week without some insight into how it works. I want it available for next week's GCSE Results day and have already done my reseaerch into Quals, QANs, Levels, Points and Discount Codes that we will need to use! If you really do need an update then you could download the CD Image from SupportNet. KB82098 gives the June URL. Obviously there won't be an August one yet. ----------------------------------------------- P.S. A post has just appeared on Supportnet explaining the position re. August Upgrade and Exams - quite good timing! As at this moment in time no new release date has been posted.

I expect that, had the post been on Supportnet Forums, a positive result would have been forthcoming too!

Well DMcCoy, what can I say? Some of those ‘complaints’ have no foundation here (e.g. Workstation Upgrades, Use of Office 2007, Nova Issues); Some are there but are mere minor irritants (e.g. Multiple editing crash - yes I do agree it ought to be fixed.); At least one I totally agree with how it is setup (All Users, both SIMS and SLG, SHOULD be in Personnel - to log their CRB for one thing!); Some appear to be more issues with your Support Desk and not SIMS (I can only describe Capita Direct Support as ‘excellent’); Some I haven’t a clue about anyway as they are technical and our ICT Services Team respond excellently every time I give them an issue – which invariable is a user based problem (all problems are channelled initially through myself). What issues there are in SIMS pale into insignificance when you consider what is being delivered successfully without any hitches. And that is me done for this Forum Thread (hopefully!)! We could go on for ever discussing the pros and cons of any MIS!
