Even though it is the Head asking for this then they still need to be given advice and, maybe, even a warning that you may be going down the wrong route. I am sure that the pros and cons would be listened to. Especially if you have a logical argument to follow a different direction!

And have a look at some of the Reports that some of us have uploaded to the File Sharing part of SupportNet. They may need editing to your taste and may even not work first time if you do not have the same fields set up, but Reporting in SIMS is highly configurable by an experienced user.

Monkeyx, One wonders why you did not do in SIMS what you say you can now do in Serco! You state NOTHING that Serco can do that SIMS is not highly efficient at! We have quite a few staff here who have worked in Serco schools in the past few years who are amazed at how easy they can now input and obtain the data they need to aid T&L. They obviously did not have this in their previous schools!

That will be happening some time in the future! It was definitely on the wish list! Hopefully it may appear in the SLG Roadmap - due out on 19th October. If you use an external program then you will end up double entering loads of data, as much of this is required in SWC, which will soon no longer be a Pilot - it will be compulsory!

Cover7 should be part of the standard SIMS Installation. It is part of the Curriculum Suite! And if the LA is limiting your use of SIMS then maybe it is the time to declare UDI and get direct support from Capita. I have no real complaints about our LA but we wanted to take SIMS further and I have no regrets whatsoever at taking this step.

Methinks you should be using SIMS. Then you can use the Cover7 Routine - with its associate links to P7 and SWC Return. Maybe a webpart for SLG is a future possibility as well!

If you want to take advantage of the new NT4 style reporting using SQL Server 2008 then you will have to have upgraded for then. These are due in March - providing they make the deadline. The NT4 Reports have been made a priority in the new Reporting System.

It is available, with the migration tool/documentation, on the Autumn Release.

And if you read the Roadmaps and/or SupportNet and it's Forums then you would know when it is planned to replace NT4 Reporting.

Take a look in File Sharing on SupportNet. Some the templates may need slight modification due to more recent updates but they are a good place to start.

NT4 Reports are, as suggested above, a priority in the New SQL Server 2008 Reporting Service. NT4 will retained, for Reporting, for a period of time after this has been released - due in March, again as explained above. You can no longer use NT4 for construction of Timetable as the links have now been removed. NT4 Cover is not supported although it is possible to use it if you want to risk it! Not recommended - especially as Cover7 is such a much advanced product!

On the Memberships of groups of a scheme window select Allocate | Curriculum Promotion Wizard. Please ensure that the reference date chosen is a date when classes are populated for the current year. (From KB56583) You probably did not ensure that you used a reference date late in the year!

Sincere apologies. I did not mean from Reports - I meant from Pupil Details Focus. The Report Routine is obviously just for the Timetabler. I agree with the way this Permission is set up because Bulk printing Timetables is not a task that teachers should be doing anymore. If they want to print a timetable for the odd pupil who has lost it then they can.

In the near future there will be the option of saving Reports in this format so that they can be displayed on SLG. No doubt any issues with formats will be addressed then.

The normal Summary output is actually very good. Not sure why anybody would want to change it!

I have just logged in as a teacher (with standard Class Teacher Permissions) and CAN print a timetable. Also, our Admin Assistants have always been able to print timetables.

The reports will not be moved to NT6. They will be part of the SQL Server 2008 Reporting and are one of the priorities in this development. There were a handful of us Timetablers at the Software Deveopment Group meeting who ensured that the Team understood the importance of many of the NT4 Reports. And I don't just mean the standard Timetables and Group Lists!

I disagree. If you re-name then then how can future colleagues keep a check on who was were at what time, 3 or 4 years down the line? If they are no longer used then they just sit there - I can't think of any reason why they are causing a problem - except maybe in Equipment Register. It is this that needs addressing - not the fact that you cannot delete them. Now do I feel yet another CR coming on?

What a big mistake by the support people!!! And yes - we still export the results for use elsewhere but the Headline Figures are needed early morning. Ours were there as soon as we got the results. And I have posted CRs on SupportNet to try and get Broadsheet Results next year showing all the quals in EO. These could then, hopefully, be exported to be used in Excel for whatever purposes you want. Support for the CRs would be appreciated.

If you had upgraded to August Release then you could have put all the extra quals into EO before results day and then the Headline Figures would have been ready a couple of minutes after the Results Import, via the EO Performance Report. No need to have fancy Excel Spreadsheets or SIMS Marksheets to do that procedure now!

It already has faded away for all but Reporting purposes. It will remain just for that until it's excellent reports are replaced with SQL Server 2008 Reporting. So there is absolutely no point in Capita wasting resources on making NT4 work in 64 bit.

We also use Exam Centre and have done for many years. I had assumed that the original contributor of this thread was obtaining the results using this or a similar piece of software - hence the assumptions in my first response.

We found that sorting out the Discounts was the longest process because we checked every single one - just to be sure. the ALAN Literacy and Numeracy did not automatically discount agains the GCSE English and Maths. The imput of the data was not that long. For some Quals we bulk selected all the candidates for a particular award and then just edited their Result and Points. Others we did via Qual and Result.
