I have never denied that there are faults with SIMS, as there will be with other software. I regularly state my opinon on these, but usually directly to Capita staff themselves. In general the issues are relatively minor when compared to the rest of the functionality. The exception to this is new functionality. I offered some quite serious criticisms of the Alternative Curriculum software at the UAT meeting re. this new functionality yesterday. Capita would not be able to act on those before the Spring Release but. hopefully, a few enhancement requests for future upgrades will be created! So Yes! I can agree with you. But if you had started the thread with 'SIMS is ......' (add your own expletive!) then I would have been collecting Red Squares again in no time!

I will try and do that guys. But it is early days yet. It may be a while before I can give a really objective evaluation. At the moment all I can say is that all the staff who have seen it can't wait to try and use it!

I agree with you to some extent but what you are being asked to do seems inappropriate to me. If the Staff have access and it is them that needs the printout or whatever, then they should be doing that as it is just one/two click(s) of a button. The workforce reform agreement should be a two way agreement! And once committed to paper the data is outdated and a Data Protection risk! Capita have worked very hard to get SIMS available for Teacher use in the classroom - to save everybody time - including the Support Staff!

I don't think it is possible. Looks like you will have to do it individually - or better still get the subject staff to export their own. Then again I ain't a clue who wants 'em or what you are hoping to do with them!

Again apologies. Exporting Marksheets via the Bulk export method does give you the option of adding extra columns, which do then export.

Apologies. I misread your post! Senility is fast kicking in! If you export 'Unformatted' then they do export!

If the extra columns are saved on the Template then they do export! In fact I have just edited the columns on a Template by removing the pre-defined ones and re-inserting others and it still does work. i.e. it delivers the amended columns!

Is this the Current Season? If not, then that is why it is greyed out!

We have recently installed the new Extra-Curricular software supplied by CHQ, a new Capita Partner. This software is linked to SIMS and can be used for all activities outside school curriculum time. We are one of the official trial state schools for this new functionality and are still in the early days of this project, around 20 staff having received initial training last week. We hope to start to use this software in the Summer Term with a view to it being fully functional in September. So watch this space!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm Interesting one is that. It seems to be an issue just with Linear Groups. Banded sets seem to work perfectly! Correction! Option Blocks and some banded sets have the problem also! Verrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy curious ...................... Update! It is delivering Classes from Previous Years Somebody needs to register a SupportNet Case re this one! This will make you smile! Maybe! I just noticed the Tick Box in each UDG to 'Include in Discover'. Nice one!!!

I would guess that the SIMS System Requirements Document will be need to be upgraded once the optimum requirements for SIMS Discover are finalised.

Anybody using Schoolcomms, who upgrades to Version 7.2, will need .net4 as well. It actually installs as part of the Upgrade. On one workstation we encountered an RM issue. The support guys at Schoolcomms were aware of the issue and sorted it very quickly. No point asking me what the issue was as I just ain't that technical! I already had .net4 on my workstation as part of the Discover Field Trial and did not experience any issue when I upgraded my version of Schoolcomms.

If they don't have access to SupportNet then they can't be using SIMS because every user has the automatic right to be a SupportNet member! There is even a direct link via Tools on a user's SIMS Homepage! And any School or LA that wants to restrict this right is doing the user a MASSIVE disfavour! You are right though. I have heard of these self-imposed restrictions! Daft or Wot?

You can edit the dates that the Assessments show from in the Assessment Webpart! Click the +sign on Webpart Properties to open that option!

We moved from LA Support to direct Support from Capita a number of years ago. The cost with Capita depends on the modules you take and the size of the school. For the past couple of years our costs have been below those of the LA as we dropped below 1,000 pupils. This coming year we will pay slightly more than the LA as we are now back above 1,000 NOR. The LA charge a standard fee to all Secondary schools. Other LAs may give a different 'discount' however, so this might not be a direct comparison. We only pay for the 'minimum' Support license with Capita as we do not need support for the software functionality (L&D Support). You need to find out if you can novate your license or if you will need to re-buy the licences. See the thread on Acadamies and Phil Neal's comments there. You would need to get a quote from Capita - which they will be happy to give you.
