  1. That's ok if SOLUS3 works for you - it didn't for us!
  2. SOLUS3 was a nightmare for us though! It took 3 days and numerous calls to Capita Helpdesk to get it sorted - and we had to revert to SOLUS2. The silly thing is that we trialled SOLUS3 and it seemed ok then! Never mind - at least Capita have the case details to get it improved for next time!
  3. Yep! It is:- The Password is on the Release Note - Resource No. 17732. It obviously cannot be posted here!
  4. I have voted for this but only with a '1'. There are quoite a number of these sorts of issues in SIMS when you do not know if a procedure is still running. When asking about other such instances I have often been told that adding extra functionality to memory intensive procedures can can be counter-productive as it slows down the procedure evn more!
  5. Trying to break something is far more fun than having to mend something! Perversely, it is a sheer delight when you find a potential 'Release Breaker'! That is when you really do feel as though you have contributed!
  6. Thanks Matt. I read it last night! I gather that you enjoyed UAT! See you there some soon no doubt!
  7. You should have received the User Name and Password, by email, when you registered. My confirmation email arrived in my Inbox, but the one with the LogIn details went to my Junk Box for some reason!
  8. Doesn't matter if you miss it when it is live. You can access it later if you wish!
  9. Don't get too excited! You need to play with it first!
  10. Yep Matt. That is sort of what I am asking for! Normal backups - ICT Services Manager (Network Manager) Backup for UAT and Supportnet would be additional for Sysman using System7. Much like it is now actually! I don't do the main backups but I do need access as and when! Only three of us have Sysman Access - myself and two Technical colleagues! And I am often the one that usually tidies the Sysman Backups anyway! Mind you - I have been doing all this many years before we had a Technical Team with the current knowledge that we have now! Originally there was just me and one other using SIMS and she was the Finance Manager! And over the years I have run many, many more upgrades, backups etc etc than anybody else here!
  11. That ain't the situation here Matt! I am Sysman - it is pointless having to go to my Technical colleague just to get a backup to send up to SupportNet. I log the vast majority of cases and the Sysman Backup only leaves the site in an encrypted, passworded format via FTP Upload to Capita. I often want these at pretty short notice and I want them at 7.00am so I can start the upload before the network and internet get busy, else it literally takes all day to upload the data! And my colleague has many more technical issue to attend to without having to run a mere Sysman backup, which is all that is needed for the upload! As for the Red Squares - one of the Admins said something about me that I did not agree with. You know me! I could not let such comments go unanswered. The trouble was he kept responding and so I had to as well! When will they learn? The thread was cleared after I went home from school one evening and the comments were gone the next time I logged in from home! I am continually being told to report those that cause offence to me. I reckon I might start doing just that! It might even be even more entertaining than my current methods. They would get swamped! It would certainly give them something to think about! Have you noticed how much help I have given over my past 100 posts or so and still I go double red. Just for stating the truth! One hopes that this post does not prompt others to respond inappropriately (and that is subjective anyway!) else I might have to start reporting folk, be they users, Members, Mods, Admins or whoever else that offends me! This post is a straight response to you as you asked a direct question and so I would hope that nobody else takes offence at what is in this thread! Suffice it to say that if I do change my methods I will be honest enough to state publicly that I have reported that person and the reason I have done so!
  12. Good Luck you guys. I am sure you will enjoy it! Don't forget to ask for the retention of the Backup routine - for us Sysmen that may wanna produce a backup for SupportNet and UAT without having to rely on the Tekkies having to use Solus! Yep! I raised it last week!
  13. I realised that you were 'tongue in cheek' - and my comments were aimed at others as much as yourself! Can't keep my audience disappointed can I? Good Luck with the problem! I hope it is soon sorted for you. Keep us informed as others have reported this as well!
  14. As if I would? And as I said on another thread (the comment has now been removed), I have a lot of respect for you, and it was obvious from the post that you were not knocking SIMS - just expressing frustration that something was not working as you would expect it to! I don't think I have ever got angry on here anyway! Those that think so don't realise how calm I am when I respond! (Notice how I have managed to get rid of that last Green Square and gain two Red ones! Whoopee! )
  15. I cannot offer any specific advice in speeding up your printing. However, I can assure you that this is not an issue here. We do have a very efficient SIMS server and the workstations used to generate AM7 and Profiles Reports are also pretty high spec. Could it be server and/or workstation issues that cause the slowness of your printing process?
  16. Just in case Users missed it, this is from SupportNet:- SIMS Discover Update I am please to confirm that we are still planning to make SIMS Discover available on the 12th April. This is assuming that it passes it's testing. There has been a good uptake of the SIMS Discover Beta with 120 downloads. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people that are currently testing the Beta version for us. A full set of documentation will be available with the release and we have produced a Discover FAQ document. The FAQ document is available now on Resource Number 17846. 17. Festive? Maybe others didn't think so .............. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm! One wonders where all that posting went ............. And why ............ ?
  18. SysMan6 used to cause issues in the past but it has been pretty stable for the past couple of years. It just would not do everything that it ought to do. The issue of Parent/Contact DB Users has been around since SLG was released (and maybe even with its predecessor). System7 is able to resolve these issues!
  19. It is available now with the Spring Release. Note that you have to create AC groups for each lesson where they will appear and you have to assign the Pupils individually for each lesson! I did put in enhancements requests (as did others!) so that we could do this in bulk from any/all Groups. At UAT, I particularly requested that we could assign pupil in the DUDGs, that will be available via SIMS Discover, to be bulk assigned in AC. I hope that this gets looked at in Phase 2!
  20. Attended the first UAT re System7 yesterday. It's looking good so far. At last I will be able to manually remove those Ex-Contacts who have been lying around in SysMan6 as DB Users following Unprovisioning for SLG. This has prevented me (and all others!) from deleting them via the 'Delete Unlinked Contacts' routine and so I (we!) won't need a patch from Capita, in the future, to do this! System7 looks pretty good but we did find a few issues and requested a number of enhancements (especially me - as is my wont at UAT! )
  21. I have alluded to this on your SupportNet thread!
  22. Stuart, Sorry I did not respond to this thread sooner either here or on SupportNet. It was posted after I left school on Friday and I wanted to check our system first. All Groups in the Panels on our Homepages are accurate in terms of Pupil Membership. This is as I would expect as I take great care when editing the Group changes and always ensure that I upgrade memberships with every change that I make. As for the actual panels on users' homepages. You can force and lock certain panels but, to my knowledge, you cannot prevent users adding other their own as well. We would not want to anyway as users find these extremely useful!
  23. But is quickness better than accuracy ............??? Your other thread re. Attandence Codes may be a good example! And I ain't seen that question on the Attendance Forum of SupportNet or I would have answered there as, no doubt, so would, quite a few other users! Though I do admit that SupportNet tends to be quiet at weekends!
  24. Also do what we did - visit schools that are using the various systems and see them in action. Obviously InTouch was not available when we went thro' this process.
  25. You can use any unused Key on the Keyboard to create new Attendance codes but you have to map them to a current Attendance code - e.g. in your case you could use Key 'Q' and map it to '/'. We use the 'Q' Key to indicate 'Present but in an exam' - it maps a 'Q' to Lessons and '/' to sessions, where appropriate! If the pupils are missing the odd lesson or two to participate in another activity then consider using the new Alternative Curriculum functionality which is delivered in this current SIMS Spring Upgrade. The Alternative Curriculum Groups have their own Register and can be linked to AM7 and Profiles via the Subject that you declare for the AC Group.
