  1. You ought to post this on the Curriculum Forum on SupportNet. There are many experienced Timetablers on there! You might also want to look at the following relevant KBs, also on SupportNet:- KB82199, KB86013, KB86730, KB107043.
  2. That is standard functionality with SLG too! Obviously each site has to be hosted by the same organisation though! e.g. LA or Cpaita.
  3. Capita have to deliver some of their products as separate modules/add ons! Because of their large share of the market they are not allowed to package them all together, as smaller companies can do. It would be classed as unfair business practice if they did try to packet everything into the one product! And I would be very interested to see what CMIS can do in Assessment that AM7/PA/Discover cannot do. The staff in this school who have worked in CMIS Schools are very surprised at how accessible the data is as compared to their previous schools. Of course this could represent how well each of the school's MIS is configured (or not!). As for SLG not being User-friendly, it seems to do it's job here. We have had to move from the Capita Hosted service to the LA Hosted Service, as part of the BSF 'deal', and for a while we have had to do without a service that we have used since it's initial launch in October 2008. I can assure you that the staff and parents have really missed the service during this transition!!
  4. Paul is still asking for a few more volunteers for the SLG Software Consultation Meetings. See SupportNet for details!
  5. Nice one Phil! When we used to use Profiles6 it wasn't quite that long, but it was certainly a lot slower than it is now. And that was with extremely simple reports compared to those that we create now!
  6. I just checked the CR and my two votes were already on there! I support CRs that I agree with quite regulalry (as well as voting against a few!). Especially for SLG and for other areas that I target!
  7. If you have SIMS then you can buy into SLG either for Self Hosting, LA Hosting or Capita Hosting - dependent on your circumstances.
  8. If you could not novate, then you were presumably originally with an LA for SIMS. If you did own the licences you should have been able to novate them! Phil has stated this on here a number of times now! As I said in my original response - if they bought in as a school now with capita (i.e. bought the licences directly from Capita, for the school) then they could novate them if they went down the Academy route later!
  9. Apologies. It isn't one of the Sticky Items. Try Resource 17910 - The Technical Roadmap. All the planned Support is on there! What happens afterwards is then a matter of conjecture!
  10. If you go with SIMS now then you will, presumably, be buying your licences direct with Capita? If you do that then they can be novated to the new Acadamy, should you go down that route, for a nominal fee!
  11. Check out the Sticky Item on the Homepage of SupportNet.
  12. Nope! The Assessment Graphs will be as good as your Assement data setup in AM7!
  13. Yep!. Quite a lot. It has been speeded up quite a lot since the first release of the Field Trial version - just as was promised! Now you know why I would not offer a required spec, when pestered here to do so in the earlier days - it was just not that relevant!
  14. Emma, If you PM me (or email me!) your email address then I will send you an example of our KS3 AM7 Individual report. Amongst other things, the report contains progress graphs for English and Maths, across the Key Stage. Obviously these are also published to parents etc on SLG as well! The graph labels show the AM7 Sublevel value for each data collection. This is despite there being a KB on SupportNet that suggests that this is not possible! We have also pasted on a more meaningful scale for the Y axis of each graph.
  15. You are quite correct that Teacher Names and Lesson Details of the Incident do not appear on SLG. I believe that this is by design. If they were available then this school would hide this detail in the same way that we hide Comments, Action etc etc. What is showing on the Conduct Summary is a 'Summary'. Should you wish extra fields to be added then lodge a CR! And before anybody says that these are not 'listened to' then please consult SupportNet re. the SLG Software Consultation meetings. These usually discuss CRs as part of their normal agenda. Hopefully, I will be attending one of the meetings! I'll even support your CR in advance of this - providing you ask that it is 'optional' i.e. can be hidden! As for your reference to managed services - I share your frustrations. But should you really be giving access to pupil data to 'Auntie Flo? What about the data protection guidelines? Non-Parents who have PR can be provisioned for SLG, as far as I am aware! Anybody without PR should not be given access to pupil data! (PS - the ''availlble available'' that you may see above is NOT was is typed into the post. I have even tried deleting one and there is only one instance of the word 'available' in the actual post! )
  16. What many have not considered either is the effect of the BSF agreements which forces us into an extortionately expensive Hosted ICT Service for 5 years. Something that I tried to fight at the time. What happened to best value??? Unfortunately, I was a loan voice in the wilderness. Fortunately, I have now been instrumental in helping our Hosting company in getting SLG fully functional, with the help of the Capita Support Staff! (The contractors moved on-site just after Spring Bank and by September part of the school will be in the temporaray accommodation!)
  17. There is absolutely no reason not to use NT4 for Reporting purposes. Some of the NT4 reporting functionality is not yet in SIMS and is still not as flexible in NT6 as it is in NT4. Just ensure that your Staff (and Rooms!) are up to date in NT4 (in Staff General as well as in the Staff Database). Then export from NT6 to NT4 via the Transfer directory. Then import into NT4 from NT6 (via the Transfer directory). Then run your reports. The only issue you may have is if you have double staffed a class's lesson! Some reports in NT4 will only show one of them! Hopefully the NT4 functionality that is missing in SIMS will not be that long arriving. I have actually provided a data set that Capita can experiment/test on - due to the fact that my Timetable is composed of Bands, Sub-Bands and Sub-sub Bands. This is something that failed the first build of the SIMS NovaT reporting when I was involved in the original testing of it!
  18. Can I assume that you already have Traffic Lighting set up in AM7 and that it isn't good enough for you? And have you exhausted all the possibilites within SIMS Discover! After all, SIMS Discover has only been out a few weeks!
  19. Slightly off topic - but related:- Contracts for Academies As you may know, the DfE informed us that all academies that converted from an existing school would have to issue new contracts to staff. However, an academy contacted us recently to inform us that the DfE had told them that they did not have to issue new contracts. We asked the DfE about this and they have now confirmed that issuing of new contracts to staff is NOT necessary in all cases. It is therefore important that academies ask the DfE what position regarding new contracts applies to them and that the DfE response is passed to any party that is supporting the academy. Unfortunately, we have added functionality to our School Workforce Census 2011 application to capture the date the academy was formed and to ensure that contract and absence information could not be supplied for periods before that date. We may now have to delay the SIMS Summer Release to remove this functionality. 20. Just set up the Tiers in Pastoral management, with the appropriate Reg Groups attached to the Tiers. The Tiers are normally KS2, KS3 etc but I can see no reason why you cannot use this sytem. 'Tier' is a field that you can use in SIMS.net Reporting.
  21. With all the new functionality that is now on SLG:- Online Reports in PDF format for AM7 and Profiles7 available to Parents Pupils and Staff. Report Card direct from Staff Class Register and available to Parents rtc Direct access to Beh/Ach Incidents from the Staff Class Registers etc etc and with the future in mind (Homework, Exams, Options etc etc) and with access for Staff, Pupils, Parents (maybe even Governors!?) There can only be one answer:- SLG everytime!
  22. OOoooooooooooooooeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! And there is me that always says I ain't technically minded! Everything is relative tho'!
  23. Exactly what I thought!
  24. I don't! It may be lovely! It may be me that prefers the terrace house in the E end of Sheffield (sorry E end!) to the Beverley Hills mansion! I wonder how @pcstru's routine would pull out the Pupils or Contacts for the DUDGs that we have created in Discover .......... (although this ain't really relevant is it? As CMIS does not have Discover! ) Though maybe you can see my point! Is a nice little program needed for every group in CMIS? Or will the same one cope with all the different combinations?
  25. Not sure of that one! I suppose it depends on what quality house one wants to live in!
