  1. Has anyone else been given access to the stand alone broadcast "app" and if so, what are your thoughts?
  2. Its interesting you say that, were one of the biggest mats and most of our secondaries use it yet the support is terrible with us
  3. Yknow what, Ill give Senso that. Only having to update the MSI Once in the 2/3 years we have had them is pretty dang good. And there updates to modules, although normally totally useless, happen at runtime without any IT Interaction. i feel a bit dizzy now i have complimented them
  4. Has it improved over the past year? No Is the Filtering and Monitoring system good? If it picks everything up, its ok, but over and under sensitive and the defaults are stupid. 🌽is just an alert in the portal but "ru18" generates an email Is the Classroom Management tool good? No Are there any other features that stand out with Senso? Dark mode is nice Is there support team good? hahahaha no There answers are generally "disable your firewall" or "its your network" with nothing else useful to diagnose issues What's the most common issue you face with Senso? Broadcast is slow and unreliable, (if) it starts to broadcast to a classroom of computers, it can take up to a minute to start displaying and then it can be laggy. Doesn't show mouse courser and they are refusing to support V1 Inbuilt broadcast There standalone broadcast version works significantly better, but requires 2 bits of software to be installed, (browser) open and the teacher to copy and paste a code from software 1 into browser for every time they broadcast. The portal can take up to 5 minutes to show logged in users WOL Service is a flip of a coin if it works and then its dog slow Block internet, Apps etc is slow to update (both turn on and off) and doesn't work if the app is already open. IE Block internet will not work if they already have a browser open. If multiple users are logged in, it can stop internet from working and break other senso tools Broadcast and lock screen can be broken out of with some key binds The "logon" bulk computer tool does it in a stupid way (by setting the autologon reg key and restarting the logon service) This means that sometimes when the pc restarts it will login to the last bulk logged in account. If you have an AUP On the logon screen this needs to be clicked to log on. and when you use the logon tool it also drops all the pcs of the portal for a few minutes All the remote tech tools, IE Remote script, run command, open program etc are unreliable Getting thumbnails and remote view to work can be dark magic in itself If you had a school of very well behaved kids, it would probably be great, (yknow the type where you just have to say get off the games once every couple of lessons)
  5. i found a slightly more terrifying way of quantifying the printing and have added this to my Email signature On Printing: Between Jan 6 & April 4 2025 We printed Around 436900 Pages This is enough to carpet the entire building with a layer of paper (33k SQM) Or Run a role of paper from here to MAT HQ AND BACK as the car drives (141KM Length).
  6. Odd question, but do you use bromcom? or does your MIS have a "projector" mode. We have it sometimes here that bromcom messes with the duplication setting
  7. I Wonder if we started going "Full time staff equivalent" rather that price per page if it would make a difference. "we could have had 2 full time TAs for the amount we have printed"
  8. They had an incident yesterday, looks like it was cleared early evening. Meraki Status - Issues with the Client Details Page
  9. School of around 700 Students, the "active users" in papercut shows 860 (inc staff) 1.6 Million Pages over that time period 1.4 Of Which in grayscale 6 Printers Top 2 users after repo printed around 60k each All of the top 10 print users have printed over 25k each
  10. Sorry I meant the bell Icon on here Yet it's given me one for your reply (and an email)
  11. I don't seem to be getting site notifications for followed thread replies Do I need to prod a button somewhere?
  12. Trust of 60 odd sites, 20~ Secondary, couple of all through etc, rest primary Its about 40 Techs, 2 T2, 2 T3 And 3 "Projects" We could do with a bit more capacity across tbh 30-Something thousand users inc primary students Few thousand desktops, Chromebooks, laptops, tablets etc Printers outsourced, cctv/Access is site dependent, My sites 400 ish windows devices, pile of Chromebooks and tablets, 800 Users inc staff if my maths is right Some days i don't each lunch, others i can be rearranging my useless cable box lol Pay is decent though
  13. Smoothwall cloud or a Physical box / VM?
  14. Raspberry Pis here, that just play from a folder of videos. I have a nice script set up that auto adds and removes videos based on which folder staff put the videos in. No ongoing costs and the pis are cheap enough and hardy enough to use until they die and just stick a new one in 4 Screens but no reason it can't scale to many more
  15. Looks like our salamander sync played up last night because of this
  16. I ended up building my own bit of software to force printer to install (it runs via gpo on logon) - Happy to send you the Git and Docs if you want to have a look As i had found first time a profile logs in on any semi complex GPO it can time out before it tries to add the printers. I have found this to be a GPO And printer issue rather than anything to do with papercut
  17. We push out something called "Eye-Able® - Accessibility Assistant" which works ok for what we need ID: mpifhmmgeeofnfpehedbokjmlcgnlhbn Soft recommendation as I'm sure there's better

You can get "Dongles" from people like deepnet for about £20 Or yubikeys for a bit more
  19. Make sure you get the edu/bulk discounts. i know some suppliers forget your a school and just give you EXVat We pay about £450 for I5/16GB/256GB/5YOSW (Dell) Had a couple die in the first month, but most of them will last a decade, there seems to be no in-between
  20. I had this view when I was a student, a now terrifying number of years ago. I was the cause of many things being locked down
  21. We could bankrupt them as a trust if it is
  22. Is this somewhat comparable to Senso?
  23. Had Lovehoney ads a few times here when i haven't been logged into my YT Account. Thankfully it was half term hah.... A youtube prem for edu would be good, wouldn't be hard for them to target safe ads to EDU accounts or even IP's
