Is it machine specific or user specific? If it is an issue with a certain user, open their account properties in AD, got to their home path, add a space at the end and then delete it and apply changes it. AD will then warn about grating access to a folder which already exists, should be perfect.

Just looked through the ADM files, they all have specific google registry keys, it could be rewritten if needed but I guess just going straight with Google is the easiest way.

I assume everybody using Chrome is the full google (market research) chrome? Anybody used a clean Chromium deployment? I'm assuming the google GPO's will still work as it is, essentially, the same browser except without google's data gathering!

Yeah we have multiple databases so that is why, could be worth right click and run as administrator just to test, UAC can do funny things....

I had something similar happening with win7, this happened with us because the fms client didn't have access to read the ss_fms_companies.ini properly. Running as administrator was an instant solution. Although not sure if it will work for you as the client has registry access I assume it is elevated already?

I assume the menu down the right is a separate menu? You should be able to pick which menu it shows pages from, and then select which items have the header. It is strange that some pages show twice if you select that option, sounds very strangely setup that some are coming from a different module.

Hi, At first guess the modules that are missing could be set to only show on certain pages, I dont have access to a 1.5 install but I can have a guess at the path you need to follow! In the administration panel to go extensions, modules and open the module that has the issue. Below on the settings there should be options similar to "Only display on these pages" which I am assuming you could change to "display on all pages" Hope this helps

@Garacesh is that on windows 7 clients? We get that combination of issues a lot, some times students disabling the card using softkeys, but as you say others the thing will just not connect without a re-image, another fix which sometimes works though is connecting with a network cable, rebooting, logging on and running gpupdate /force to refresh all the policies and then rebooting and the client will connect wirelessly

Only our sixth formers need .exe for programming so file screens blocking .exe apply to all other year groups. On the subject of file searching, I couldn't recomend treesize enough, the professional version will scan an entire network drive and you can even filter by extensions and see folder sizes, filter to .exe and then see folders that contain them, irregularities show up quickly as vb files for courses will all be less than 100k Disk Space Manager software at its best: TreeSize Professional

Hi, Hopefully you are server 2008 or greater for file server, if so you can setup a file screen based on extensions. We block .exe .jar .swf .nds .rom .bat etc. and it makes it impossible to save those file types to the folder you specify (assuming pupils home path!)

I designed our school site in Joomla, and if properly made it is brilliant. Once the site was setup no development is needed and in fact now managed by a member of admin still with limited computer knowledge. Pretty much sounds like it hasn't been created very well OR just that there has been no handover process. I would stick with Joomla, you can pretty much do anything you want with it, and the support and extensions are available is near endless. Thanks for the reply. I hadn't really considered DPM because I thought its main purpose was backing up entire VM's through hyper-v. I'm assuming as it says support for file servers, you can, for example, restore an individual file for a student that has deleted it?

Firstly, I hope this post is in the right place. A bit of background info: As a school we are currently investigating potential replacements for our existing online backup system, mainly down to speed but also cost. The main option we are investigating is a simple disk to disk backup solution with 2 servers as, thanks to our site layout, one of these servers can be remote from the server room (where all data is held) with no risk of fire damage IF that happens to our main servers. We have just over 1tb of data in total to backup with about 15-20% of that data changing daily. The questions: Would you personally back such a system if you were in the same situation? Or would you do something different? What backup software do you currently use, and would you recommend it or something similar? And, the tricky one, what kind of backup plan would you implement? Baring in mind backup server1 will be in the same physical location as all our other servers and backup server2 will be remote. We are looking at a few options for this but one that interests us is using backup exec to run a disk-disk backup to backup1 over night (incrementally) and synchronising the data from backup1 to backup2 during day time, effectively running a disk-disk-disk system. Also as an extra measure we are looking into removable e-sata disks to take backups totally offsite, for example a yearly or termly backup just as another layer of protection. Any other thoughts? All opinions and answers are welcomed, even if it means this plan is totally wrong!
