  1. Thanks, so we need a local install of XNA for kodu to work? A pain but a solution thanks
  2. Hi, Just wondered if anybody had had any success sequencing Kodu Game Lab? We are trying in App-V 5 and getting crashes when launching the sequence. I read a post somwhere about XNA framework needing to be in the sequence and lot a local install which we have tried. Thanks for any help
  3. I'm not sure if it is a downside or not, we are looking at putting all our file shares on one drive on one server to get the most out of deduplication. We run a hyper-v environment so really this shouldn't have any performance impact compared to on 2 different virtual servers and 4 different virtual drives at the moment. Just feels like adding a single point of failure, but really it isn't I guess!
  4. Thanks that's cool, just watching this review if a newer one, I really fancy one of these, sneak it through the IT budget for "development?"
  5. Firstly this looks great, I wants I wants! We have a couple of spare Logitech K400 wireless keyboards here so one of them should work with it beautifully for testing but... Something I have never seen, how?
  6. Ah great thanks, we are looking at implementing a new backup system too that would be DPM 2012 so in that case our backup sizes should be reduced too. Obviously with incremental backups it gets a bit confusing and things I don't even want to think about!
  7. We are looking at transferring over summer and using it. I ran the analysis tool on our existing data and we were seeing similar results, around 28%. One of my queries on it has been backup, if your original data size is 100gb, and deduplicated means its 75gb, what is your backup size? Presumably 100gb?
  8. For anybody that comes across this thread. It seemed to be a fault in the switch in the flex, total powerdown of the networking was the way to solve the problem!
  9. The only way we do this is to force only the default printer to be redirected. Staff know this and know they have to set their default before they logon otherwise they cannot change it without coming out. We used to get hundreds of inkjet home printers installed on our terminal servers and now none because they all have school printers set as default (we use remoteapp internally)
  10. This problem has dragged my back to edgeek, not necessarily for an answer just to share my pain. We have an NEC Flex server running a hyper-v cluster on 2008 R2 and the server with the fault is also 2008 R2. I came in Monday morning and one of our physical hosts was unreachable so I rebooted it and everything seemed to be back up, then I noticed that all traffic being sent to the virtual servers that were on it is being duplicated. For example, if I send a ping to the server running wireshark I see these results. On my machine: 4 pings sent, 8 replies received. On the VM: 8 pings received, 8 replies sent. This is only happening with the virtual servers and not the hardware hosts. Fun
  11. I am sure it will be, it already uses office metro style web apps, or whatever they are called!
  12. Thanks Alex, I have been looking at developing custom WebParts today, did Microsoft decide they don't want anybody to be able to do this? I have my copy of visual studio 2010 that I use every day without issue for other things but then I need to install sharepoint server on my machine, which obviously isn't server 2008 so I have to jump through hoops and hacks to get it to install, then suddenly Visual Studio takes a disliking to UAC so must always be run as administrator and it still seems impossible to really achieve anything. Maybe it's maybe, maybe I'm looking at this from the wrong way but surely writing a little asp web part shouldnt be this hard?!?!
  13. Is it possible to have a folder where students can upload but not read? I looked into this but couldn't find a way. We aren't at a time right now where we can use SSO and ADFS but that is another future project of mine for next academic year
  14. Thanks for the reply, the one thing I am really interested in is homework submission, how is this achieved? Ours is sharepoint online as part of 365 so Im not sure if that gives us more or less features at the moment!
  15. We have migrated to office 365 for email hosting and very successfully at that, which is my kind of project, clear expectations of outcomes and features, sorted! But now I have been given a slightly harder project and I will share with you the full brief before I ask my questions "Setup Sharepoint" You may wonder how I can have any questions with such a comprehensive brief as that? But here are mine for you! Does anybody still use sharepoint by choice as VLE? What would you expect VLE features to be? Any pointers? Starters? I would love somebody to say "look at this link for loads of free web parts and workflows to make your portal perfect" but that seems more like a Moodle world to me! Any Help? Please?
