  1. Man, spent a lot of time on mine writing BASIC from magazines. A lot of time seeing "Syntax Error" too
  2. How are you browsing for the computers? Is it by browsing for part of the name i.e. ITRoom4-*? there are a few different ways to do this, so we'll need that info first.
  3. Ah! Can anyone confirm that Home edition can be used with MDT? A lot of network stuff is not supported in Home as far as I know. Update: Yeah a bit of searching shows that XP Home is not allowed - apparently you can trick it by renaming some files, but really Pro is the way to go if you can.
  4. I can confirm that it definitely work with XP and works very well - we use it all the time. Are you trying to capture a pre-built XP machine or are you building and capturing in the same task sequence?
  5. I see that Intune v2 is about to come out but I haven't seen any pricing. Did anyone here make the leap and try this out?
  6. Incredible stuff
  7. That's perfect thanks - not bothered about the currency, just scary graphs are good enough It does show that SSDs are not going up though.
  8. Anyone know a decent price tracker website that you can track how the price of an item has gone over the last few months? computerprices used to do that but seems to just be a web portal now. Are SSD's definitely not affected? I see that Mitsubishi Motors are also predicting being able to only make half their usual output due to the floods, so it must be a huge industrial area.
  9. Agreed, in many ways such an obvious movie choice. It's surprising that there hasn't been a big budget thrown at it before.
  10. So, the Danny Baker show on Radio London is to be axed. Unbelievable if it happens - only reason to ever listen to that station. Depressing news.
  11. "The BBC's popular BBC HD channel is to be shut down" then "one of the casualties of these cutbacks could be the five-year-old BBC HD" Well, which is it? Anyway, the BBC is being eroded by government for sure - such a pity as it is the envy of the rest of the world. An independent news channel alone is worth the licence fee in my opinion.
  12. wow, thanks for posting.
  13. After years of attempts and failures it finally forced me to get a grip with SCCM and I'm so glad that I did. You'll get everything you need on this site: how can I install SCCM 2007 sp1 in Windows Server 2008 - www.windows-noob.com
  14. This is an interesting page regarding the quality of SSDs: Coding Horror: The Hot/Crazy Solid State Drive Scale
  15. They are notoriously unreliable, but some people find the advantages so great that they are willing to put up with replacing them once a year. I haven't gotten one yet, but thinking of it for the next family PC (stop the "Why does it take so long to boot up?" moans) Just got to make sure you have a rock-solid backup in place before you make the jump.
  16. So, this works: \\servername\share but this doesn't? net use Z:\\servername\share There should be a space between the Z: and \\, but I know that is probably just a typo here. So the line should be: net use Z: \\servername\share Can you just try that? Thanks.
  17. You mention shares and drive letters, so I just want to clarify which part is failing. Are you saying that end users are not getting their mapped drives (or redirected documents) or that the shares don't exist when you check them? So if you are on the client machine can you manually map a share using for example: net use X: \\servername\sharename$ from an elevated command prompt. If that works then the shares are fine and we need to start looking at your policies etc. Cheers
  18. Wow, that is frightening. We'll open up a case with MS if we can't get further and let you know what we find. Cheers.
  19. Anyway, back to the issue at hand - we are having the same problem AngryTechnician. Did you ever find out what actually caused the problem? Thanks
  20. It is important that you use sted's exact "Application Name" as it only responds to that.
  21. In your task sequence got to State Restore and after the "Recover From Domain" line go to Add>>General>>Run Command Line and in the "Command Line" box put in your batch file. Think that is all you need.
  22. Must admit that I'd be inclined to make it one of the first things that gets installed.

    zettabyte

As we move more and more into the cloud our local servers may not even hit Petabytes - but really, all this is unpredictable
  24. Very cool - did not know that. Thanks!
  25. Ah! just found the thread entitled "FLIP Video: Deploying FlipShare" so I'll run through those instructions and give that a whirl. Cheers
