  1. Yes, looks like its the batteries. Can't believe that i didnt think to try this myself! Thank you.
  2. Hi All, We have had at least 5 Dell 3100 Chromebooks die out of the blue in the last 2 weeks. They will only power up if we unplug the batteries and use a 45W charger. as soon as i plug the battery back in again, it all shuts off and refuses to even try and power up. These are orginally from the DfE during the Covid times, and were manufactured in 2020, incase anyone else is seeing this happen?
  3. for the questions including counts eg. the device counts, is this for the one school i am based in or MAT wide?
  4. Its not just about just volume tbh for us. Its about consistancy, for our hard of hearing students its really important. And also for the staff who are ill or for our supplys who are often less confident and queiter. Being able to be heard above the hubub of 30 children or for youtube videos from the PC input, it all adds to the useful funcionality that otherwise would make classroom management harder. (yes i know the old adage, "dont technology your way out of Classroom management issues", but still, i personally cant fault this one)
  5. We use the Juno system from Frontrow too. Works really well on its own, but we have also tied it into the other wall mounted speakers from the old system and I havent ever experienced any feedback/interference. We also use them as external speakers for the PC's, so no need for extra speakers on teachers desks etc. Wall Mounted, and wall mounted the mic docks next to the speakers. Requires a double wall socket avaliable nearby, but keeps it all tidy and out of the way. Expensive yes, but as a school with a lot of hearing impaired students, well worth the use.

I love that the status page is down too 😁
  7. yeah, a 3rd domain, one off just to use as a gap stop - add as secondary, promote to primary, remove the one we want to use and import it to original instance and promote it to primary there... annoying, but makes sense thank you @HyperTech!
  8. Hi All, Coming to you guys to hopefully pull on all the varied experiences. We have a new Primary school joining our MAT, and due to many things i wont go here, they have 2 google workspace instances running at the moment. 1 with all their licences linked to it, and one with their email domain linked to it. I guess my main question boils down to: Can I add a domain as a secondary (to eventually transition it to primary) while it is currently the primary domain of another Google Workspace instance?
  9. Just giving this a bump. It looks to be a setting for Geolocation (https://chromeenterprise.google/policies/#DefaultGeolocationSetting) but im not sure i want to disable this for my users? Anyone got any opinions on if we should set it to "Do not allow sites to detect users' geolocation". I dont think it would break anything specifically but there could be something im missing.
  10. Hi All, Does anyone use any generic Coloured baskets for storing their Chromebooks similar to these that aren't £75 each?? (I'm not mad for thinking thats crazy right??) Looking online only brings up these on a number of sites or induvidual stroage bags/laptop sleeves.
  11. Hi All, We are having a spate of PC's all requesting bitlocker passwords. But when rebooting after puting it in, it asks again. Its mentioning that the PC configuration has changed when it hasnt. BIOS picks up all the RAM, and the drive, and when your in Windows, it works fine. To add to the confusion, its only in one particular room, and its occuring even after a reimage, which is leading my mind down the Windows updates path. But im not 100% sure, because then it would be school wide due to WSUS.. We only use Stone, and these PC's are all of the Asus H110M-A-DP Motherboard. Possibly WinUpdate pushed a bios update? Anyone else seeing this or have any ideas?? Thanks
  12. Hi Guys, Just reviving this thread to see if anyone has moved forward with StudentKeeper or has any further thoughts? Curious to see what the consensus is as its not something on my radar nor can I find much on it outside of their own site etc. Thanks.
  13. I have attached a screenshot. Its only started appearing since the licence expired a few days ago. I'll admit Veeam is something we have just lets to run as it just worked, so suddenly looking at all this liecence stuff has me baffled.
  14. Hi All, Our Veeam support licence has expired, maning our backups are now failing. When looking to renew, its asking if we want to "upgrade" to Veeam universal Licences. Is this what we should be doing? We currently are running a licence with 4 Sockets, but would like to backup more VM's, which the upgraded licences suggests we will be able to do but i dont waant to renew and then not be able to get it working how i would like. Any insight you guys could provide would be gratefully received!
  15. I think it should work with Win11, but we have not started testing anything to do with 11 yet, so cant help you there unfortunatly. The Openshell wiki has peopl ediscussing it, so it seems to be doing something. https://github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu/discussions/
  16. OpenShell is a start menu replacement that allows us to customise the look and links contained within it. It gets rid of the standard menu, and its win10 related issues, Ads, searching the interent for files etc. https://github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu/wiki We have one for students with their programs, and one for staff with other exe's and programs that they might need that the students dont. This, combined with the rediredcted Desktops, and Applocker, mean the students cant navigate to any folder or file that we do not want them to, which is about as secure as it can be IMO.
  17. Redirected Desktops, and using OpenShell to only show needed items in the start menu. This is for our Win10 setup, but planning on using the same system for Win11 when we deploy it.
  18. Yeah same here. Running the EXE remotely makes it work fine, but its not always starting on login. it seems to be random machines and random users.
  19. Secondary School ~1500 Students + 200 Staff 2.42M pages 2,271,975 (93.4%) Mono , 149,464 (6.6%) Colour 19.8 Trees and 7.2 Tons of CO2 (not seen this stat before, its crazy!)
  20. We are using RoomBookingSytem, for all of our other rooms etc, and have our chomebooks on there as a resource, but we have them centrally, and teachers can book as many as they want at a time; so this might be different if you have stationed sets around your schools etc.
  21. Thanks @timbo343, works a treat here too!
  22. Thank you! Will give this a go on monday and update how it goes.
  23. Following cause im interested to hear if anyone has managed it too! i'm also dreaming to think that there might be a way to skip the ad privacy menus too that appears every time you log into chrome? even designating a default selected option in the admin panel to just get it to go away!
  24. Hi All, I am wondering if any of you have come across a situation where one of the Google services, in our case Classroom, is unavaliable on your network. The error message is Classroom is not avaliable for xxxxx within this network.(I would attach an image but its not working atm) We had student from another school in our trust come over and login to our device but it wouldnt allow them into classroom, but Drive and Docs etc are all ok. im not sure if its becuse this device is managed in one Google environment and this studnts account is managed by another, but we have allowed them to login to our devices with their domain. We believe it has something to do with Managed Wifi Networks, as when we switch the CB over to our non admin panel applied SSID, it works fine, but we are stuck trying to work out why this is. Have any of you come across this before? TIA Adam
  25. Down again! This time for all staff, its giving a HTTP ERROR 500. Anyone else?
