  2. Yeah mate all good found the shortcut yesterday cheers
  3. I don't have a problem with SLG as a concept I just have a problem with the amount of work involved in getting the thing in a presentable state for use in school this is more of a criticism of the amount of resources the school needs to commit to the project. Sharepoint is a complex beast and I don't envy the team working on the backend of things but compared to other products I find it difficult to work with however saying that I do realise not many products offer the same level of customisation as sharepoint hence why its so popular globally. @matt40k - You're right maybe my expectations were for a more out-of-the-box product. The school have definitely under estimated the amount of commitment needed to get this working how we want it. When I say clunky I am alluding to the manner in which you have to configure the front end I find there a many clicks needed to achieve something that on similar 'platform' would be far easier/quicker however I conceded these other platforms don't carry the same amount of flexibility that sharepoint offers. Maybe I will retract my clunky/not user friendly comments until I have it up and running

  12. hahaha we went from SIMS to Bromcom now we are back on SIMS soo....yeah I thought Capita did the updates or is there another process I have to complete? Thanks for the replies
  13. Alright, So we have had SIMS SLG for about 2-3 years and it has never been used. I am now tasked with getting it up and running but after playing around with it again today I can see why I gave up on it before its extremely clunky and very very very slow. Anyway enough moaning.. I keep getting Access denied when I log in as any teacher do they need to be in a specific group or something for this to work? Also any general tips/advice/documentation on how to make the thing look and feel usable would be great.. Thanks

  16. I worked in London for a year with the TES, it was great but not sure I could handle it again only because of the commuting. In terms of working in London it was really awesome especially some of the food markets and Hummus Bros love that place.
  17. not sure how you set the default program via SIMS but in Windows Control Panel >> Programs >> Default Programs >> Set Default Programs From there you can set like Outlook as default email program or I guess if you have others installed Thunderbird it would show there..
  18. Did some digging in the help files and found this statement under the email stuff... "You will not be able to use this functionality unless you have a MAPI-compliant email application installed on your PC." I guess what you could do is configure your Google account via POP into Outlook (the program) and see if you can get it working that way?
  19. Great news and really positive to hear....right this is good motivation for me to push on now well done @Little-Miss

    World Cup!

Sterling showing his lack of maturity this time on the pitch... he has been embroiled in off the field drama for years, lets hope someone sorts this kid out hes got potential no doubt about that. As for the World Cup its just about the only football I will watch on TV more for the other teams than England. I actually think Colombia might do something so I will be watching them real dark horse!
  21. Been watching Quadcopter youtube videos all afternoon...seriously awesome stuff might be time to treat myself
  22. We are using Cisco stuff here installed it all ourselves the downside is the access points are now EOL which means we cannot expand the coverage unless we overhaul the whole lot...well that was the impression Cisco gave me. The system itself is awesome not really had any major problems the only downside was the learning curve of setting it all up solo but hey got there in the end
