I'm holding back on paying their renewal invoice. They I need to read their SLA. They must be in violation. They're going bust. Capita have further ruined an already terrible product.

I use Altusen KVM's made by Aten. You can chain them beyond 256 servers I think. I use the lower end ones but they do better ones some with the features you're looking for I'm sure.

In effect you are reversing Computer settings taking precedence over User settings. It should effectively hide the Computer GPO deployed printers when a staff member logs in. I see what you mean... will the printer persist after the first time a student logs on?....... Try it. Is there a persistence setting when you deploy the printer via GPO? If so, set it to No. An example of a use of loopback processing that I use is screensavers not applying to whiteboard PC's. Although screensavers/auto screen locking is applied per user site wide, I have a 2nd policy attached to the OU's of computers that I don't want that to apply to that apply the same setting in Computer settings.

Loopback processing might do it. Install per computer but not if logged in as whatever user group you apply the GPO to. Why not just deploy as a user policy? I do that and get the same result as you're after. Whats your print management software too ?

I suffer with MLS also. What are the alternatives you guys have found ?

I'm finding Server 2016 doesn't run very well on exsi 6.5. My specs are double what you've got there. Server 2012, 2008, Win7, Win10 are fine but 3 of my 2016 vm's run pretty slowly even when installed vanilla. Still haven't worked out why ????:confused: EDIT: just reread your post properly !! RAID 10 with spares is what I'd do. I'm running Raid10 on 4 discs at the mo but one of my host server chassis wont take any more than 4. BTW, that's a massively over spec'd server for a handful of vm's. I'm running 12 vm's on a host maybe a 1/3 better than yours and its only at half capacity. Obviously that depends on what you're going to do with them. Veeam Backup and Replication (or similar) is a must plus consider a second host to restore to if host1 dies. Why not consider 2 servers at half spec each. Having everything sat on 1 host is something I wouldn't advise. (believe me I've done it and suffered).

I agree. Keep it for a few years. More RAM and buy a couple of spare discs.

Banned via GPO here for everyone except on public area computers. Outside access is via vpn/rdp. And a staff signed statement stating no data will be uploaded / shared etc.

My 'educational establishment' has a bigger turnover, client base and IT budget than many small/medium businesses... and we choose morally, professionally and with experience, to equip our infrastructures wisely with top end, reliable, pro grade hardware with long shelf life, scaleability and reliablility in mind. Otherwise we'd all be buying DLink eh @synaesthesia

Yes they are. The Pro ones at least. Half the people on this forum will be using them because they are good. Get a Ruckus or Aruba instead then. Only thing is you'll pay north of £250 for one. They don't have to be managed.

@Dan_ATR BTW, 20 users on a single AP isn't a big ask at all. As long as you've got a decent speed network plugged into it that is. Get a Unify. You wont be sorry. They can be used standalone just like any other managed or unmanaged AP out there. And any old POE converter will do. Or look at a Ruckus one if your budget can stretch. They are the mutts nuts.

No u do the initial setup with the software/web interface then its configured and good to go until you need to change the settings again. Like any other AP/router. I wont use DLinks again. I'd be happier with a little cisco or a TP link with the routing turned off.

I did use Veeam for a while but it stopped working. Haven't use it since. Don't need to. O365 does it all pretty much. Only thing it might be useful for is if you are archiving mail going back donkeys I suppose.

We do: Grant the user exclusive rights to Documents == on Move the contents of Documents to the new location == on Leave the folder in the new location when policy is removed == on See if the redirection is applying 2nd time with rsop.msc - any errors or is it not applying ? Also, try testing redirecting the folder to somewhere other than their home directory.

I rented a Suzuki GSX 250 a couple of years ago in Spain. It weighed or at least felt heavier than a Yammy XJ600 I rode on my test. It was really hard to get it to lean in without having to drag the back brake to get round tight-ish bends.

Kwaki Er-6n or Yammy MT-07 are great bikes. I can't get on with suzukis. Too heavy. Er6 will restrict down ok.

You need: Theory test Current CBT Then.... Mod 1 - which is maneuvering and paddock work - done on either an A1 or A2 class bike. then.... Mod2: Road test (A2 allows restricted to a certain engine Kw output rather than engine size & no pillion I think) (A1 is unrestricted. Any engine, any size with pillion)
