You need to turn offline files off Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > Offline Files should solve your problem

Have you tried disabling the jsnslideshow banner? to see what happens? Maybe try another module ie ROKslideshow

I use Phoca Gallery with the slideshow plugin for content items, which allows you to display images in content items from a category in the gallery, see here I have used it twice in this content item.

No docman is not 1.5 native. There is a couple of document management addons that I know of IONfiles and phoca download. But there is no front end adding of files which I think you get with docman
