Well I've been playing it since last week and really enjoying it. True there are a few bugs in it and its lacking in maps but the multiplayer is really good fun when playing with groups of friends. The single player is awful, bots have retarded AI, more likely to stare at walls as opposed to dropping of the objective but once you get real people playing its much more enjoyable. Well I had a spin last night (after downloading a huuuuuge update!) and I can say it is defiantly a lot better than when I left it before Christmas. Hardly any interface lag now, only had a bit when in a really crowded place in a city. Fighting is a lot smoother, a lot less dis-jointed and more enjoyable. In fact my first leve I tried I got KO'd as everything happened so damn fast! They've also sped up crafting, especially leves, you can now just select 'craft same thing again' and off you go. Much easier! I've been trying to decide on this or Rift and I think I'll stick with this while its free and see what other adjustments come along. Who knows, they may even tempt me to pay for it when its 'finished'.

I played the Beta from closed Beta stage all the way through to release but just couldn't stick with it. Gave up just before Christmas due to the laggy interface and lack of content (side quests etc). I've been thinking for a while of going back and seeing what the updates have done, have they sorted any of the problems i mentioned above? From what I remember I was on Melmond server but I'd be tempted to switch if the games got any better. Was 15 Gladiator, 14 Armour-smith, 12 Black-smith (or something close to that!).

Hi everyone We've just recieved our first RM Slate 100 and have installed Win7 Pro on it. We're having trouble with drivers. Windows 7 doesnt seem to have them and the RM website won't let me download them ( have put in a request but says may take 1-2 days!). Does anyone have the drivers I could download? Cheers James

We've been having an annoying problem with Office since we upgraded to 2010/Win7. When kids try and print work occasionally Office will crash, it happens in Word, Powerpoint and Publisher and I have narrowed it down to a problem with Fonts. As soon as you press print Office will come up and say Word/Publisher etc has stopped working, the document never gets as far as the print server (2008r2 with latest drivers for all printers). This happens on various machines (Dell/Stone/AcerNetbooks) and with various different printers (mostly Utax 3035/3416, Kyocera c5020ns and other odd ones). So far I have narrowed it down to the Adobe fonts installed with the CS3 package we have. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get these fonts to print? At the moment we're just telling students to change their fonts to something 'normal' but as you know students have a tendency to use a gazillion fonts in publisher docs so it gets very annoying! I've tried installing the basic CS3 package to the server and even copying the fonts folder from an offending PC. I've updated all the drivers and am now at a loss. Any ideas anyone?

I've also been looking for a solution to this for the past few weeks. The best I've done is put a how to guide on the VLE but we all know how much they are used!

We have 3 suites of Macs (Leopard) here all authenticating against active directory and I'm having problems keeping the Macs keychains in sync with their AD counter-parts. Normally if a user has forgotten their password we change it for them from the Windows server but when they log back into the Macs their keychain no longer matches. The main problem is Safari complaining which is starting to drive our Creative and Media students round the bend. I've looked into the KeyChain Minder application and looks like it does the job but I'm a bit worried about how well the users will be able to use it. Has anyone got any experience in using KeyChain Minder or another more transparent solution? Cheers James

I can't find the original link to it but the AD losing bindings is due to the PassInterval. It can be set using the following command: dsconfigad -lu username -lp password -passinterval 0 where username and password are your AD administrators details. I usually send it out ARD but otherwise can be run on the machines after binding. Hope that helps.

We've had the same kind of problems with Windows 7, documents not being written to home drives correctly, 0kb files etc. This post seems to have helped (I only implemented the reg changes beginning of last week but I haven't had any more calls about it).

Another vote for Fallout: New Vegas here. Alot less glitchy on the PC than on the Xbox. Cheaper too!

Monkey Island, randomly clicking items together to try and combine them into something that would get you to the next part of the adventure. Baldur's Gate II, just all of it. The game is epic, one of the best DnD based video games I've ever played.

We now have the nice new shiny Mac Office 2011 and I'm looking at deploying it in the next week or so. What I'm after is a setup file-type-thing that takes the users name and automatically configures Outlook to their exchange account. Office 2010 for Windows does this with the setup.exe and some additional parameters to make a custom installer. Does Mac Office have this kind of feature? Or am I going to have to find some other way of doing it? Cheers James

Got my collectors edition on Wednesday, been playing it since the updates installed (no thanks to the god awful p2p update client). Runs much smoother than the beta client, I have almost all the graphics settings on high and still runs nicely on an ATI 5770 Spent last night running around Gridania with some old FFXI Linkshell friends doing Guildleves. Only thing I havent got my head around yet is crafting, didn't get a chance to do a lot of it on the beta so I'm still a bit of a n00b there! I'm on Melond server character name Snorii Skafhammer. Give me a shout!

Hi everyone, I'm currently looking into a new printer for our Mac Suite in Art as the current one is falling apart! I'm after a colour laser network printer, A4, possibly A3 depending on price. It must have proper mac drivers and can handle large quantities of large images being thrown at it at a time, so good amount of memory and probably a hard drive. Does anyone have any experience with anything fitting my requirements? What do you use for your Mac network printers? Cheers James

Well it would seem you can sysprep a machine after its imaged. Tick the generalize box and it will write the pc a new ID only problem is it removes them from the network and they need re-naming. God bless our new FOG machine and its re-naming capabilities.

It would appear I have messed up a bit. We have spent the summer deploying Windows 7 over our network using FOG to deploy our images. However, it seems I have not run sysprep /generalise on the machines before the image was created. Our KMS count is therefore not increasing and machines are not getting activated. Is there anyway to specify a new CMID or run sysprep /generalise after an image is deployed as we only have a few days before the kids get back. Cheers James

Thanks everyone for your help, you've all help me by pointing me in the right direction. I found an error in the logs (the winlogon notification subscriber failed a critical notification event) which, after a few searches pointed me to it being a profile issue. I then check out the profile and it was missing over half the files I originally copied to it. Luckily I still had the original so I've just had to copy everything back over and it now works fine. One thought I did have was that the profile was stored on an old Server2003 server so I have put the new profiles on a '08R2 now. Cheers James

Yep its logging on as the local system account.

We've just come across this big problem with student logins here. Every time a student tries to log in we get "The Group Policy Client service failed at logon. Access is Denied" The student cannot therefore log in. This happens with both mandatory profiles and I have tried changing to roaming profiles and still the same problem. I have tried with new students (i.e. students that havent logged onto the pc before) and it is still the same (so not a profile/registry sid error). Anyone have any ideas? Cheers James
