Hi all More of a personal thread than a professional this. I've just purchased a second hand Gigabyte Z77X-D3H board on eBay (trying to build a new PC on the cheap!) and I'm a little worried about it. It was purchased knowing that one of the Fan sockets didn't work but the seller assured the CPU fan was not affected. However on inspection there is a burnt line running from the CPU/DAJP1 socket to above the RAM slots. At the moment I don't have a CPU to test the board with (buying an i5 when I get paid next month) so not sure how serious this is. I've just come across this as well! Taken me a week to work out whats going on. Just raised a ticket with AB Tutor about it. Did you ever get it resolved?

Just bumping this thread with more info. So far I have: Re-imaged the machine. Re-written (re-made) the group policies from scratch. Made new machine and new user accounts in AD. Moved the machines to a different switch (changed for one in a working room) I'm starting to despair a bit! I'm open to any ideas no matter how weird or out there! Edit: Group Policy is now not giving any errors and is pulling down all correct settings (folder re-direction/restrictions/etc) except for the proxy. Proxy is ticked but the box is blank. Doesn't give any errors in Event Viewer, keeps telling me everything executed successfully!! Thanks James

@Ergo - Yes some sort of network/connection problem was the conclusion I was coming to. @ZeroHour - Firewalls are turned off as standard on the domain. Services are running but the firewall is disabled. Can't see any problems with the NIC on any of the 3 DCs or the clients. Thanks for your help so far guys.

Hi everyone Having a problem with Group Policy on some of our curriculum machines at the moment. When anyone logs on (administrator/teacher/student) the User side of Group Policy seems to fail. It doesn't seem to be happening to all machines or a specific set of users. When logging onto an affected machine it takes around 10 minutes to complete the log on (usually about 20seconds), and the user will have no proxy settings or restrictions. Group Policy preferences seem to be applying as they were getting network drives. The client log files don't seem particularly helpful, in Application I get: The winlogon notification subscriber took 481 second(s) to handle the notification event (Logon). When digging down into the GroupPolicy Operational log I get a few more errors: The LDAP call to connect and bind to Active Directory completed. curric-server1.domain.sch.uk The call failed after 240148 milliseconds. Group Policy failed to discover the Domain Controller details in 481388 milliseconds. Error: Failed to register for connectivity notification. Error code 0x4CE. I'm having trouble finding anything specific regarding these errors, hoping someone else here has a bit more experience and might be able to help me! If anyone needs any more info or anything else I shall be watching this thread. Edit: When running gpresult on a machine it gives "The user %User% does not have RSOP data" Thanks James.

Contacted Capita, the updates were released but I needed to go to Update Environment in Solus Agents, select the Discover channel and tell it where our server was. As soon as I'd done that the updates appeared. Have done the upgrade but now cannot open the Config tool as the transfer process is running. According to the knowledge bases this means I have to contact the help desk again. One day I'll get Discover working!

Hi everyone Our SMT have just started using Discover (after I installed it almost a year ago) and its not working. Looks like our SIMS and Discover databases are on different versions so I need to do a Discover update. All the documentation points to using Solus 3 to do the Discover updates but I can't see any Discover releases in there. Do I have to do something special to tell it to get Discover downloads or have I missed something? Any help would be great! James

I really hope this is just an HD remake. This (and BG:II) is just about my favorite game ever. Spent so much time playing this. I just hope they don't muck it up like they have done with other 're-makes'.

We've had a lot of problems with the print driver corrupting when being deployed via group policy preferences. The solution was to delete the registry keys associated with the drivers and re-start the print spooler. This webpage has all the details: Specified Port is Unknown error when adding Network Printers « Weird & Wonderful IT I have now made a log off script that deletes the registry entries on log off so its all ready for the next log in. I don't *think* bluetooth or airplay have been used (its a PE iPad, looked after by the department so not 100% sure). Can that cause a problem?

When the head phones are plugged in the sound works fine, volume controls work and all apps have sound. As soon as you remove the headphones the problem returns.

Morning all We have a couple of iPads here and one has no sounds when using apps. I can get it to make a noise when using menus and starting up etc and the sound will work perfectly when headphones are plugged in. The volume switch doesn't seem to increase/decrease the volume (just comes up with sound effect and doesn't do much). I have checked the mute/rotation lock switch and tried in as many combinations as I can. I've tried a factory restore and a reset settings but no difference. Any one have any ideas? Cheers James

I seem to remember something about all users needing permission to the Final Cut folder for it to run. We run: chmod -R 777 /Library/Application\ Support/Final\ Cut\ Pro\ System\ Support on all the machine to get it to work I believe.

Looks like it was the FMSAc database version that was differing from everything else, ran DbUpgrade on the server and upgraded FMSAc and problem solved. Thanks everyone!

Yep, the database is online and the services are started. The old FMS database works fine, its just the new FMS Academy one. Thanks James

Hi everyone We've been asked to install the FMS Academy upgrade to one of out feeder primary schools and I've come up with a problem. When anyone logs in you get a Database incompatibility error. I'm waiting on the IMS team to come back to me with a solution but the school have someone coming in today to transfer from the old FMS to the new so I need it soonish. Any ideas anyone? Played the beta none stop for the month or so it was on. Managed to unlock just about everything and had a blast doing it. Going back to Gears 2 without mantle kick and the retro lancer charge made for a disappointing summer

Same here, traded in a load of old games so can afford the Epic Edition. Will be at the local Game @ 12 midnight to collect it!

Thanks for the Airplay hint, looks like it might be the thing I'm looking for. Found a guide on Enable AirPlay From iPhone, iPad, iPod touch to Mac with AirPlayer | Redmond Pie which about does it. Just waiting for the head of music to come back to me if it works as I don't have an iphone myself. Will post results. Cheers James

Hi everyone, but of an interesting problem here. The music department have ask me if its possible to view things displayed on an iphone on a macbook (and then through a projector). The macbook --> projector part is no problem but I'm having trouble finding an app that will allow me to view what is displayed on the iphone on the macbook. They'd like to be able to walk around and video what people are playing and display it on the big projector screen. I've looked into some apps (iDemo and Veency) but they require jailbreaking and as the phones are personal ones I wouldn't feel comfortable hacking them apart. I've also had a look into IP cameras etc but they are "too costly and have too many cables" (head of musics words). Any suggestions? Cheers James

Do you have a proxy set on your Deploy Studio server? I remember that causing havoc with our set-up when we first did it.

Firefox just asked me to install Firefox7.0beta.

Whats weird is our net connection did go down about that time, but I think that was more down to some little oik plugging the network into itself than a router reboot!
