We have told our staff that students are not allowed in unsupervised, but they often send them in to print some work off. As i am based in the LRC i send them back, and every now and again there is this pass back and forth. They dont seem to understand that the students are there responsibility and they just want to dump them on someone else. I have told many times i am not taking responsability for them coming in. We have cameras in the room, but as no one does anything about any damage. I used to lock the room before i was based in here, and the teachers would unlock it constantly and leave it open, i would wander past to find 40 - 50 students in, from different lessons all doing whatever they want, playing games, listening to music, messing around with eacher other. All unsupervised.

Have used scummvm to play, the Monkey island series, Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle and The Dig. I enjoyed the demon song from ice station santa.

Has anyone played the new sam and max game, ice station santa that has come out recently. Anyone played any of the season 1 games or the original.

Definitely have a word with them about this, you might find that they have judged you without hearing your side of story. If you do get any comments, abuse or intimidation, i would speak to someone right away and you could maybe use that to leave early. Other than that, just smile, take it on the chin. It will probably be nice to be nasty and screw them over but it would probably just end up bad for you.

No all the laptops are connected via points on the wall. We have 37 laptops it does this on everyone on of them.

Staff have laptops that have the offline files sychronisation set so they can work at home. They have started to report that randomly during the day the laptops will loose connection and go into offline mode. A message will pop up in the bottom corner telling that the computer is offline, they can then reconnect straight away and be back as if nothing happened. I cant seem to see what could cause this, i thought at first mabye due to going in to power save mode but this happens when the users are working away. Has anyone ever had a similar problem.

Try rebuilding one again, without any software deployed on it. And see if non admins can use memory sticks. If that works, add the software one by one and try pinpoint it to some software.

If you log on as an administrator and install the memory stick, does it then pick the stick up if you log on as non admin. If it does i would then try a seperate memory stick to see if that pics up as well. Mabye check and do a gpupdate incase something is missing. Also how many pc in music room, incase you have to install them first time.l

I was going to say the same thing, as soon as you start helping with your own equipment they will just take advantage of that and you will never get a new drive. If you have no backups and they know that, it will force the issue, mabye hiding some important data will make them realise what is at stake.

What did everyone think of Crysis then, i completed it last week.

if for what ever reason they make you do this, i would finish at 4:15 exactly, take your 1 hour lunch, let many of the jobs pile up, and just let all hell break loose. Then if they start to complain bring unison in again and show your timetable. and then discuss with them when you want them to do all these jobs as your time is fully booked, if they even try to extend your hours, the union rep should back you.

Hi Well i have been here for a while now and i have posted a few topics and reply, so i though i would introduce myself anyway. Well my name is Tom, i am an IT Technician for a secondary school in the north east. Have worked here for over 2 years now and finally getting the hang of it all. Is there any way of having some kind of spell check when you post messages. Such as hotmail gives the option to spell check an email. This would be usefull as do type far to quickly, but do make alot of errors.

No i am not saying that you are, you were just discussing the use of grammar, spelling and punctuation. I tend to not proof read of check what i have typed. Most likely will not in this message, this is due to using my mobile phone alot. I mainly use r = are, u = you, and often miss apostrophes. I can't see what would be the problem with it, i can understand, if someone could not understand, but surely you just post a message saying can you repeat that, as you would in person say, can you repeat that. What really gets me is if i accidentally spell something wrong, and then you get some obnoctious person who rubs it in your face that you made a mistake, you wouldn't do this to someone in person.
