I'm using a pair of Iiyama Prolite XUB2792SQN but frankly despite being good screens they're so unreliable in their connection it's unreal. Identical specwise to the Dell hubs (used the 23 and 24 inch HE's) but I prefer the Dells. They weren't 100% consistent either with passthrough and very flaky with anything other than the USB C cables they came with. Otherwise HP G4 usb C desktop hubs separately. Not as convenient but a bit more reliable so far, only had them in a few months.

I stand by my comment about picking up a high end 3xxx series or maybe even a 4xxx series, for the sake of cost/price benefits!

It's fairly inconceivable that there would be not one member of staff with a mobile phone, or at least one school device with a SIM card.

With the prospective pricing I've seen for some of the better 5xxx series cards, either wait or don't bother. I've used AWD-IT before (I always self build, but getting a prebuilt like this was the only way I could pick up a 3000 series card at below MSRP during the shortage!) and had a good experience with them. I'd probably suggest spending a little more on a ryzen 7, at least 32GB ram, decent size and spec NVME and finding a 3080/3090 to "tide you over".

True to a point, but you can't use any of that as evidence in front of a board of governors for exclusion. Yes of course they can do what you say - they can alert you instantly to issues whereas CCTV is reactive, but they are still heavily false-positive driven whether halo, verkada or . This wasn't a comment made anti-Halo, it was "please don't knock CCTV in toilets as it's an invaluable resource".

Make sure to lock it down so it can only be accessed by internal IPs. That's still daft but as far as I know the only way to do it (and one of many things forcing BYOD to die)

Starting from scratch effectively will make it easier for you as long as you have at least half an environment ready to go. Usually with AP units it's a cluster of random hardware built locally, no servers or proper deployment systems, sometimes an MDM if you're lucky. Ground up it'll be far easier - intune or Google, windows or chromebook, on the assumption that your MIS isn't SIMS. Shouldn't be too different otherwise - more focus on external providers for education so companies like Academy21, colleges and other establishments which may also have their own systems to log into, and some of them can be about as different as they come - for instance round here some of them involve the students learning to farm! So no huge surprise if a device comes back clogged with manure A likely higher rate of devices "going missing" for students if they're on a 1:1 basis, likely higher safeguarding issues and scenarios which may involve further investigation or input from IT. A lot depends on the staff too - I was always lucky enough not to have to hand-hold anyone as they were generally more switched on out of necessity. Just be very careful with some of the leases - whilst we didn't lease PC hardware (signing in systems, phone systems) our lease agreement meant we paid more over 1 year than outright ownership - and they were 3/5 years leases. Even if you're not involved in the purchasing/finance side of it, make sure you see the paperwork. When a £300 ends up costing you £1500 in it's lifetime, even with all the worst things that can happen going wrong, you're so out of pocket it's unreal. It's only as shocking as people make out, usually parents who have so little idea of what happens in schools. From a GDPR perspective, I would happily argue that a Halo/Verkada/Anyothersensor is more invasive than CCTV.
