  1. Don't suppose you use PARS for registering? That has cover planning built in. Andy
  2. We ordered two ages ago from Promethean - where we got the projectors from originally... £65 each. I rang recently for a quote (presuming they may have come down a bit since) still £65 - we didn't order this time - staff are sharing remotes. I seem to recall someone posting recently that the cheap universal ones you get from Aldi and the like can be used, as long as you still have an original you can program from. Andy
  3. Is anyone else struggling with the Captcha? Or is it just me Andy
  4. Half of the staff here do that during the holidays... that's me cooking my Super Noodles - the caretaker doesn't. It's quiet round here during holidays! I don't feel any "us and them syndrome". The only person I did feel this off once was a supply teacher who was supposed to be covering a long term absence - he wasn't here long. I get the feeling that Office staff and the LSAs feel it a bit, but tbh - I think that is them more than the teachers Andy
  5. Well, guess I won't be going either. We got the call yesterday... OFSTED are coming on those two days. I'm quite looking forward to it - I don't know why. No one else is! Andy
  6. I seem to remember reading about (maybe it was on here) a conversation someone had with a business person. The reason they used MS was because that was what their employees had learned in school! Andy
  7. Anyone going to this at the Reebok Stadium? Went last year, lots of people speaking at us - some of it was quite interesting. I imagine it to be a poor mans BETT for those of us who can't get all the way down to London! November 15 & 16 Details here Andy
  8. and I thought you meant WSOP! Was going to say - it's just finished! Andy
  9. You were on TV too?! Andy
  10. From the title, I thought it might be a variation on a John Cage piece - that would have made better listening!! Did they not do this on Children in Need (or somthing similar?) Andy
  11. None (well not directly) - all ours was done on the timetable. Ours was pretty straightforward though. We moved our statutory register to 5th period, which meant we then couldn't register form period (which is at the end of school). we just had to add an extra period on the end and set the classes up to match the form groups. Very simple. I guess your problem is just the teachers for the "un-taught" periods! Andy
  12. Hmmmm... tricky. Going off your original suggestion, how about one class of all the pupils on free - with whoever assigned as the teacher. They nip round all the classrooms and save it at the end. I can't work out from your post if a particular student should be in a particular classroom. If they swap around and you have multiple registers, you're going to have to save part done registers - which in PARS, you can't! I'm sure this hasn't helped one dot - but we've been getting PARS finely tuned ourselves here lately, so I felt I should post something! Andy
  13. We have a Dell Server - arrived just before me (almost 3 years ago) never heard a peep out of it - runs very well. I don't know why, but I don't like the thought of everything Dell. I'm sure you could get pretty much every bit of kit you need from Dell - but I wouldn't want to. No rational explaination for it - just wouldn't. Andy
  14. Perhaps an ideal time to ressurrect the Edugeek map thingy. Andy
  15. Sounds good - count me in (provisionally) Andy
  16. You mean you're not making "Blackpool by night" postcards? Andy
  17. 8O I had to read that 4 times before I realised it didn't say P45! Andy
  18. I bought some of these boards from ComputerCommodities.com. I was struggling to find some also. Plus I needed specifically microATX. Andy
  19. Sensible World of Soccer (on the Amiga) - ah the memories! Andy
  20. It will run on 2k3, but you have to pay them £75 (approx.) for the new version. We bought Metro 1 one year, 2 the next and 3 the next. 2 and 3 were 2k3 version, 1 was not - oh the fun! Andy PS. Also watch out for the Flash Player 8 'issue'.
  21. I cannot wait for the day when I can do that Shopping List: 2 Irons 1 Ironing Board Dishwasher Tables Server 2003 R2 Ball and Chain Loo Roll Digestive Biscuits Crusty Bread Milk SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition Butter Ruhbarb Pie (yummy) Yoghurts (strawberry, raspberry and peach) Cheese (red leicester, chedder - mild and strong, Churnton, Cathedral City - sliced and block) HP Proliant ML370 G5 with 18 SA-SCSI 2 more Irons (you can never have enough Irons hey Grumbledook) 2 tickets to We Will Rock You Tango Well we can all dream about the day that happens :D:D Surely that's what the Internet is for Andy
  22. Regarding not getting the Security tab. If you got to Tools - Folder Options - way down the bottom in a box to untick (or tick?) called enable simple file sharing - or something to that effect. Ticking (or unticking) that box should get your Security tab back. Saying that, I had one yesterday where it didn't! Andy
  23. Why don't you... Take 1 switch out of the network at a time until it settles. Put the offending switch back into the network and remove one connection at a time until it settles - and that should lead you to the offending outlet where you might find the "looped" patch cable that maybe you missed - or something amiss on the machine connected to it? Maybe you've already done this. Andy
  24. Oh - tell you what I did forget... I think it's still on 8O (Well, it is if the blue glow didn't attract the nasties in the night) Better go and make sure it's still there! Andy
