IMHO the HTC HD2 is the Iphone killer, not the Nexus, but for some reason its overlooked by most on here. I know its no great source to be trusted but just have a look at the video reviews on youtube (HTC HD2 vs Iphone) or (HTC HD2 vs Android). The stock Rom on WM is very stable and functional but if you go the route of flashing new cooked Roms then the flavor just keeps on giving. I must admit the screen on the nexus looks very bright and crisp compared to the HD2 but its still ALOT smaller at 3.7" compared to 4.3" on the HD2. Both these phones still fail on the capacitive screen, I do like the multitouch but not as much as using the screen when I have gloves on or using a fine tip stylus to draw or write with but that is just a minor disadvantage.

You could of all saved yourself the hassel and gone for the better phone (IMHO) HTC Touch HD2, android is just not ready or supported enough to be used as well as a WinMo phone when you have people like the XDA developers. and if you really wanted android (not sure why) then you can always run it ontop of WinMo. If anyone can give a sensible reason why the Nexus (Hardware or software) is better than the HD2 then I would like to hear it as I havn't found any! (Please if Im wrong then tell me). Oh yeah....and as for multitasking (not even gonna bring up the whole classic copy&paste iphone issue)....WinMo has been able to do this since at least 2002

Mine brings a smile to my face and the requirement for new boxers everytime I take this out almost. Nissan 200sx S14, full Apex exhaust, Walbro pump, colder plugs, 216Bhp 210tourque all to the rear wheels in something that weights less than a crisp packet

The way I go about allowing staff to view the internet at home and also at school without them fiddling with the proxy is.... Install Firefox on the laptop without importing anything from IE (exept favorites) and set it to use no proxy, add a shortcut to firefox on the desktop called 'Firefox (Home Internet Only)'. This means that the whole laptop is geared to use the school proxy apart from firefox which they can still reach their webmail, ebay etc (not able to use outlook coz of the proxy). If I realy doubt their ability to see coman sense then I sometimes also rename to IE shortcut to say 'Internet Explorer (School internet only). I have found that the laptops that I do this on (compared to staff that just turn the proxy off) have ALOT less troubles and come to me with malware/virus panic attacks on a monday morning. On another note, its funny how many teachers partners (aparently they are gods with IT, so they say, lol) that try and install google chrome and find that they can still not access the internet at home and blame the laptop or myself for the issue makes me giggle!. Chrome gets its setting direct from IE and I have not found a way to independenly set a proxy different to chrome from IE (I have not looked deeply into it at all plus I dont really want to anyway). It would be good to hear what route you are going to take with your issue? P.S I have done this also because I do not add teacher laptops to the domain. they are all local admins

I have been using the Phaser 6110n for over a year now in my school and they are a nightmare at times. I have found that after a while the print quality gets realy bad and there is no way I have found to clean the printers apart from the standard cleaning with a lint free cloth but that dosn't clean the drum etc so prints are all streaky, I looked into buying new internal for them but that cost more than a whole new printer (go-figure). As for the waste toner getting full, I just empty them into a sealed bag and clean me and make sure the light sensor part is clean and place them back in the printer, they fill up too fast just to keep buying new ones. Every so often I think they get lonely and just show a red light on the display which the only way to cure is just open all the compartments and shut them again, I think they crave the attention. Does anyone know a good cleaning route for this printer or any nice tips/tricks to sort the print quality? P.S they have gone up in price now but the consumables have gone down

Thank you jinnantonnix, I think you have hit the nail on the head with your reply, and of course muphies law Ive done the school boy error of naming my internal and external name space the same!. I will try and add the host name of the external proxy but as the document says I think I will still have conflicks resolving internal addresses. Well this then realy only leaves me with one option that is sure fire to work, that is to change the namespace (domain) of my internal network to a subdomian of the external namespace like local.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk. This now leads me to another quick question, does anyone know of and automated way I can re-join all the PC's to the new domain after I have created it? I fear if I change the DC's domain name none of the DNS records will work anymore and I will always be fighting the old name&refferences of the old namespace. Any help or idea's would be very appriciated. Thank you again for all your time

Thank you DMcCoy but as i said in the first post 'but not sure how or what to put.' I am guessing you mean in the DNS snapin but in what part and what type of record do I use, new domain maybe? also how do I use the external DNS to use nslookup because as of the situation I am in if I use nslokkup proxy.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk it just says there is no such domain which is the original problem I am having. Sorry this all might be realy basic but I am having troubles with the details. Thank you all for your time and help

Basicly before I changed the local server 2003 domain name from tavistock2.devon.sch.uk the network worked perfectly and the proxy.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk as the proxy worked fine for all the PC's, they could access the internet and use outlook (using the address imail.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk) without any troubles. Now I have done the silly thing of changing our local server 2003 domain name to: tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk which is the same as our address for e-mails etc, since I have done this, using the proxy.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk does not connect to the internet because it thinks our domain controler is the proxy so it dose not look outside of our local network. So to fix the problem I am just using proxy.swgfl.org.uk becuase then the pc's dont just sit there and wonder why the server is not acting like a proxy. Does this make things alittle clearer? sorry I can see what the problem is but putting it into words that make sense is hard, lol

Hello, I have recently updated our schools server and for some silly reason I decided to use a different name from our last domain. Are old domain was called 'Tavistock2.devon.sch.uk' and I had no problems, Now I have called our new domain 'tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk' which is the same as our proxy! (bad move). Before I did this i did not think of the consiquences that this would have when it comes to DNS etc. Since I have done this no PC's will find: imail.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk proxy.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk staffproxy.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk they are of course asking the server instead of the dns server pointing to the external sites because the server is fileserver.tavistock-pri.devon.sch.uk. I am assuming I could use an IP address resolved from the addresses imail.*, staffproxy.* and proxy.* but I would prefere if I could just change something in the DNS server so there is no more problems, I think it would involve adding a forwarding address to DNS but not sure how or what to put. Because of this problem I have had to change all the PC's proxy's to proxy.swgfl.org.uk and staffproxy.swgfl.org.uk so that they can access the internet and e-mails via outlook. I hope I have made sense here and that the problem is posted in the right section. Please just ask if I have not given the right or enough information for you to help me. Ive just been on the site and priced up- Poweredge T105 Dual Core AMD Opteron™ 1216, 2.4GHz, 2X1MB Cache 3Yr Basic Warranty - Next Business Day 2GB Memory, DDR2, 800MHz ECC (2x1GB Dual Ranked DIMMs) SAS 6iR Internal RAID Controller Card 2x500GB, SATA, 3.5-inch, 7.2K RPM Hard Drive (Cabled) 48X DVD/CDRW Combo Drive with SATA Cable £578 ext VAT and I will buy and extra HDD for the server OS the other route would still be build my own but in less than 10 days to research and order and pay dosn't give me much time (or put another way, i dont feel confident i would make the best decisions based on the time) The CPU's would be 1 of these three: Intel Xeon X3230 S755 2.66GHz 8Mb cache 1066FSB Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz 6Mb Cache 1333FSB Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 S775 2.66GHz 6MB cache 1333FSB With an Intel MoBo (as suggested from advice given in this thread) but which one? Kingston RAM 4GB 2x1TB HDD (Software RAID 1) and a small 80Gb Hdd for OS I would preferre to build my own server for the satifaction of working on it but is that the best decision or am i just being selfish, what would the most professional opinion be? my hearts saying build your own but my heads definutly saying customize a barebone server. When it comes to the EBuyer option of the server im not sure I could do this because the Admin needs the invoice before the end of the month, or is this: HP ProLiant ML115 Tower Server - Misco.co.uk the same deal on Misco.co.uk? Very interesting DAckroyd, What services would you split out, because I can always use the old server (using it at the moment) to do some work (but then im worried about running old hardware with the new hardware which could later lead to troubles maybe if the old server decides to die)?

Thank you SYNACK for your fast reply. We have about 400 pupils and staff, about 60 workstations and about 30 laptops. The server is running as print server, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, DC. Also there is alot of curriculum software installed to run from network rather than localy. For the Hdd I was going to buy 2x 1Tb SATA2 for storage and redundancy then 1x80Gb for OS. Its more the chip and MoBo im after help with. Basicly I want as much bang for my buck as possible as this will be the last upgrade of quite some years I think, so I need the storage but also the throughput to last awhile. I dont think I will be moving to Server2008 yet unless its not that much different to 2003 (but thats another task for later, I need to buy this hardware first) Any more suggestions will be very nice to have. So SYNACK, do I have to buy a MoBo that has EM64T-enabled bios etc for this chip to still run 32-bit OS or is this only if I want to later run a 64-bit OS?

Hello all, Hope this is in the right section (sorry Mods if not) I am in a primary school which needs its server upgrading as the last servers MoBo through its legs in the air and died. Im temporarly using a Pentium D 2.8Ghz with 2gb RAM + 2x500Gb SATA2 which is proving to be a bit guttless when it comes to intense situations. Im looking at a budget of about £600 but that has to include CPU, MoBo, RAM, Hdd and PSU Ive been looking at CPUs and MoBo's and its a bit of a mine field out there. I was looking at a Intel Xeon X3230 S775 2.66GHz 8MB 1066FSB but then was scared off by the 'EM64T' hardware and software requirements (but i will be running a 32bit version of server2003 so im not sure if that affects anything). Another CPU ive been looking at is the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz 6MB Cache S775 1333MHZ, would be brilliant as a fileserver but it will also be the domain controler so maybe only 2cores is stretching it abit. Does anyone have any advice as to what chip and mobo to go for, any help would be much appreciated Thank you in advance P.S did I mention that this has to be ordered and payed for by the 30th of March (10 days!)

I think VNC have a WM version that you can use, allowing presentation and control modes. Logmein.com also works on WM but the screen refresh is a bit slow to use on the PDA. I have never used the VNC version but im guessing it will work ok, but the Logmein.com route works 100% that i know. I think each can be done with activesync or wifi (the PDA just needs a internet connection) Let me know if you find a better solution
