Sorry missed your question. Skew Planar antenna are great because the normal antenna only transmitt on 2 planes, Vertical and horizontal, a Skew Planar antenna is circular polorised so transmitts on both/every angle. This means if I had a standard di-pole antenna and I banked/rolled my quad to the near horizontal level then I would loose video signal. Its an amzing bit of kit that I think was invented by Amateur Radio guys. Since I have had them on the quad the difference is like night and day, the picture is so clean and crisp.

Its like any hobby, you can spend as much as you like on this. From scratch (ie not even having batteries etc) then you will be looking around the £300 mark to build something like this but then rapidly hitting at least the £600 mark for a decent full FPV setup, it can be done cheaper but you will limit yourself if you ever change plans i.e buy a Parrot AR drone. Any ones best bet would be go to Youtube and google and start your information munching in the forums and tutorial videos. Ebay is great for bits and most comes from china so look out for import tax etc. Its all so much fun

Hi all, Here is my flight I did the other morning before work, it was a beautiful morning and perfect conditions for a quick fly to set me up for the day. This was shot pure FPV using some new Skew Planar antenna I have just got which are amazing! Some nice shots of the Evo too FPV Quadcopter Frost morning flight Best viewed full screen and at 720p Its a very strange feeling when you have to think "Where did I leave my body?" Lol

3D printing is amazing, I wish I had one or had access to one but when I looked into them it was going to be about £600 just to get to the first print, is the process cheaper now or still around the same price all in?. His design is great and I love the use of my fravorite resource ZIP TIES

The Black Sheep video in London is brilliant if you take it at face value, some of those sights we would never be able to see unless someone did this, I don't think its better than the 'Trappy' New York video by them, much better flyer I think. The best post I have seen about The Black Sheep (TBS) was by 'LoopDreams' on FPV Hub: Leaving aside arguments over the legality. How TBS see themselves: How people see them: "RC Daredevils", gimme a break. I hope video's like this are not used as evidence in some board room to apply for more stricter rules which could spoil the fun for the ones that are 'trying' to stick to the rules. I know this might be the pot calling the kettle black lol

Hi all, My latest flight was done yesterday in Calstock, Cornwall UK. Great day and a beautiful area. I only did full FPV for bit of the video as I have never flown in this area and didn't want to get disorientated. ;D I LOVE FPV! 720p

Where do they have iTunes installed? is it on their work laptop/desktop or is it on their home desktop/pc? just wondering how well this 'backup' is? Also do you use RM safetynet as your proxy/filter? if not what do you use and how do the ipads coupe with the proxy with regards to accessing internal IP's and also external IP's? (currently reading about AppleTV)

@caffrey Thanks for letting me know your troubles that you have had, these are all the fears I had realised. @zag like Caffrey said your route is probable the only sensable way forward with ipads, let the staff/department heads control what software is on them but I do not like the thought of vouchers being handed out and software organised by other people when its me that will be lumbered with sorting the problems out after it all goes wrong (not sure how it could go wrong but those are famous last words). Do your staff use the ipads for direct teaching tools? (used as part of a lesson) or are they just a teachers resource?

@zag, thanks for the input, so to continue what you are saying, could I say Windows 8 tablet will blow ipad out of the water in a school environment then? or are you ipad all the way? can you do the things I asked for in the Post#1 with an ipad? (centraly control security/software/printers/logins with homefolders etc) or do you use them in a different way? say just for internet research maybe...

Hello, The school currently has about 30 netbooks so an entire class can use them for cross-curriculum activities etc. The college near us held a training morning using ipads for the teachers. The Head has now asked what type of tablet we should get? I am very biased against Ipad and would go for a windows or android tablet anyday but I do not want to affect my work on a personal choice. My main fear with the ipads is that I would not be able to centraly control security/software/printers/logins with homefolders etc and that I would be tied into iTunes aswell. Our system is all windows based on Windows XP/7/server, so my natural instinct would be go for a windows tablet and definutly now we have Windows 8. What have other people gone for when it comes to Tablets?

The KK board is still an AMAZING bit of kit, its alittle harder to setup the ESC etc as you have to do them each on thier own and also seting up the settings can be fiddly/prop breaking intense with roll/pitch/yaw all adjusted by a variable resistor, also you will need the USB Uart to flash firmware etc added bonus is there are a ton of youtube vids on how to setup the KK up. Its abit pricey but you can get the kits from Pyramid models UK: Multicopter Kits > MULTICOPTERS > Main Page > Pyramid Models flight controler: Flight Control Boards > MULTICOPTERS > Main Page > Pyramid Models I have brought from them before, they also have a ebay store. Super fast postage and good communication.....but as I said, alittle bit more pricey but then they are in the UK so you can shout at them if things go wrong Here is another one of my vids I did last week: Launceston Castle, Launceston, Cornwall:

@JOrdan01070 Thats a great first setup, thats the frame I use at the moment but with quite abit of modification. If your son is very good on his heli then the KK board will be fine but if you want 'auto-standle' and hight hold etc then you will need a flight controller with accelerometer/Baro, I started with no expericence with heli's etc and I found the KK board was too steap on the learning curve. I suggest Rabbit flight Controller by Love Flight (get the one with 'Care-Free' and the hi-precision Baro),or a CIRUS AIO Pro, both should be under £100 and are worth every pennie. The radio gear is spot on, thats a great deal and have heard them mentioned many times in forums for FPV etc Also grad yourself some 9x4.5 Props (plenty of them!) as you will be needing to replace them if they get damaged because they can just shed part of a prop in mid flight and end with an expensive crash if you fly with bad props. P.s extra hint, take off or cover the bottom of the feet on the quad as they tend to grab/get stuck in the ground. Oh and Locktight, plenty of locktight!

@Earthling, cheers for the words, Im loving making the videos. Video's are all shot using my HD Extreme Cam which is attached to the Quad recording onto SD, the end goal (saving money) is Full FPV where you transmit the video feed to a pair of goggles or monitor to fly first person

the DJI Naza flight controller seems to have this function if your looking for it. The Naza seems to be an excellent FC, its position hold etc seems to be the best for under £200

10ch's! now thats the ticket. I have had a few Walker products before and always found their quality to be less than ideal but in the last year or so they seem to bounced back with some amazing gadjets, 3 position switch is an added bonus, the spekrum only has 2. Great price! @pcstru I think I agree with you, much prefer the Spektrum gear If you are thinking of towing up a DLSR etc into the sky I would suggest you go for the Hexacopter/Octocopter route, much more stable and can carry some very heavy loads. With regard to Rabbits code, well its a long story and I will leave it at this, they used some opensource code in their source code which they have not released and are selling it so they broke some licencing thing.......seems a very heated/touchy subject which I don't realy understand or want to get involved in so no more will be said by me

I am using Spekrum dx6i, its a great bit of kit for the price, Idealy I would of gone for a 8 or 9ch system to allow me scope for future projects but 6ch's do my quad fine, at the moment I am only using 5ch's, If i were using a plane for FPV then I would of gone for 8/9ch's for pan and tilt on the FPV camera. Im using a Rabbit Flight Controller which some reports are it uses stolen (/borrowed) code from MultiWii, so far I have found it to perform beyond my expectation and is so easy to setup/tweak. X configuration is the best for photography etc but I think + is more stable better for beginners. do you have any plans for your quad (fpv etc) or is it just a fun project?

@plexer - Thats a bit of kit!, it would be good to hear your progress on the build, what type of frame configuration are you going to use?
