laserblazer Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Probably been discussed before but how do you dispose of them. I take ours to the local tip where they have a facility for fluorescent and halogen lamps.
Michael Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Probably been discussed before but how do you dispose of them. I take ours to the local tip where they have a facility for fluorescent and halogen lamps. It's all you can do. I can't see why someone would pick up a faulty bulb
laserblazer Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 As it happens, we use prm greentech to take our hardware and they have said they can take the lamps as well.
Gibbo Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Get them recycled. You're not supposed to take commercial or trade waste to a tip.
laserblazer Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 You can if you let them know it's commercial. The guy who runs ours is a parent.
EvLPhenom Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 We give ours to the site team/caretakers and they dispose of them with the fluorescent tubes that get recyled.
bushby Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 i sneak mine in to a misc box for weee collections they get allsorts of surprises. eg bulbs, a gaming keyboard once, and next they may even get a g-force label to check it gets to them all fine.
Homer Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 We give ours to the site team/caretakers and they dispose of them with the fluorescent tubes that get recyled. +1 to this. If your school has a Facilities Management company in charge of site (likely for any new builds) they likely have a hazardous waste box somewhere, or a 'lamp coffin' - we chuck ours in there and it is disposed of properly!
enjay Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 We include them in our WEEE collection each summer - do check with the company you use, however, as they don't all take them. Don't take them to the tip, as that is funded by council tax, so you're not allowed to take commercial waste there.
Oaktech Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Ours go with the WEEE collection we arrange with C-P ltd... it goes via W&S recycling.
HaleStorm Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Ours goes with our WEEE recycling collection can't remember what the companies called now
