Tomorrow, all password resets will be done using:

ASecret1

So that when a member of staff comes and says

"Andy, I've forgotten my password"

I can simply respond with

"That's ok, I've just reset it to ASecret1 so you should be able to log in now" and just sit and await their perplexed faces..

I would urge my fellow EduGeeks to do similar.. just for giggles.. :)

P.S. The staff calling you Andy is completely optional if that isn't your name.. teehee..

I dunno .. I guess you could mix up questions / answers and have it as "Forty2" but then, it's just too short, and if you wrote it "FortyTwo" then it wouldn't have the number aspect so .. lol ..

'blank' is another good one...

"Whats my password, Sir?"

"Its blank"

minutes of fun.

"reset" would also work.

"I can't remember my password!"

"Your password is reset"

"Reset to what?"

"no, your password IS reset."

"But... to what?"

In one school that I worked at here in the West Midlands, we used get loads of requests to change student passwords to manu. (How do you confuse a Man U fan? Show them a map of Manchester.) They used forgetting their password as an excuse for getting out of lesson. I used to change it to wbarule, which encouraged them to stay in lesson. The students could, of course, change their own password, but we were running Linux on the desktops and the students didn't know how to read the step-by-step instructions to get to the shell and type passwd.

One of the schools I work at has all kinds of passwords set up by a Leeds United fan. As a Sheffield Wednesday fan I find this very disturbing!

If we get repeat offenders i ask them what football team they support, usually man u.

That's why we have a lot of pupils with passwords along the lines of "mancityisgreat" "extratimeheros" ecta..

*ducks*

We used to use password but that became too much over the phone with users so we tried Pa55word which is better, years ago we used numpty! but we got told off for that one!

Yeah I'm worried about ending up in the paper or something for changing little Callum/Connor/Jade's password to "1d10t," and thereby seen to be bullying them.

Far better to change it to "necessary" to do that instead. :)

Or even deliberately spell that wrong just to do their heads in: "But miss, the IT man said it was necissary!"
