doesnt really suprise, expenses stuff is still going on despite the period of time since that whole thing started, ill wager it is going on now still, just they have moved the goalposts again for it, how they have the cheek to actually claim for a second home bemuses me, they should have a block in an army barracks to stay in as far as I am concerned, good enough for our troops Edited by rich_tech

Personally I think some one like Premier inn should run an accommodation block for MP's. The problem is that you have to pay MP and give then expenses like any company or other wise you only end up with trustafarian like Zac Goldsmith that can afford to be MP's.

(I don't like Zac Goldsmith as he defeated the hard working sitting MP!!)

the argument against that is that they would all be in 1 location if someone wanted to bomb it

better off i would think the government just renting x hotel rooms in random locations permanently and allowing mps to use them or cough up for their own

mp=Money Please

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that's a very good reason FOR the argument.

might make them more responsive to voters if they could easily be got at lol

Why not give them a flat rate per diem allowance? How about the same amount of money as someone receiving housing benefit in London is expected to pay for their accomodation?

Don't be daft. THEN you'll only get people who aren't rich already being MPs. They might have interests like you and me, and not lining pockets of already super-rich bankers who have, well, bankrupted us.

Can't have that. Lol pleb.

I think the all the MPs and the members of the House of Lords should be made to sleep for a week in one of the many homeless hostels run by charities in London for a week. That might bring a few of them to their senses.

I don't think they should be paid at all unless they turn up at parliament. As to accommodation, reopen the camp in parliament square and have them stay there. It would be very convenient for them to get to "work".

I cannot believe that anyone would be remotely surprised by this.....

As a new MP, you're shown your office, and shown how to "maximise your expenses" as soon as you get through the door. There is a certain amount of "Everyone else is doing it, so why can't we?" to this situation.

I think that you're living in your dreams if you think that these people would linger over making a spurious claim.

And I think there's no need to argue about this....We are all acting like a zombie and being misled at every step by EVERY politician....we need to wake up and smell the coffee! But that's just my opinion!

The bombing thing is daft there is already one location to Bomb the House of Parliament!! There is an alternative is that we have an number of regional chambers all linked by a telepresence system mean that they don't have to stay in London very often.
