Here's a question to all parents out there.

 

If both parents are workers and your child minder is ill, what is your employer like? Would you take your little one to work?

 

The reason I ask is that I had to bring my daughter, who is 18 months, in and may have to again tomorrow. Work 'seem' ok about it. I'm in for most of the day, or not at all.

Sippo....when working I had to take a days holiday or use any time owed to look after my little one. Wasn't great but Mrs and I took turns in doing so.

Local negotiation required. Your employer may decide that H&S or other reasons make it not practicable to have a pre-schooler in your place of employment.

 

When working in industry with pre-schoolers, I had to take leave. When working in school, it depended. Sick kids meant I stayed at home with them, but being part time, I was allowed to make the time up.

 

When my childrens' schools were closed and mine was open, I could bring them in. By the age of 8 or so I could give them useful jobs to do to keep them out of mischief.

Oh yeah. Many edugeeks are around the same age as my sons, (22 and 24) and, not only that, so are some of the suppliers (looking at you, @Millgate !)
