Pottsey Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Isn’t the hardware between the iphone and N95 pretty similar just the software that’s different? Things like the 3dchip and CPU are along the same lines if not the same. Not 100% sure but that’s what I thought.

Perhaps they are selling it as it did so well in the tests. So you think they faked the video? Even if there is a conflict of interest the video and testing looked fair.

Why does everyone have to be so closed minded? Maybe, just maybe Apple have hit the nail on the head here. With a phone that people want. Us EduGeeks may not want it, but I would bet my bottom dollar it's gonna be a great seller. The tests looked pretty fair, and I would like to see some PDA's go through the same test and see how they size up.

Good luck to Apple. Marketing will play a huge part in the phone's success, and those more savvy can buy something exactly the same for a lot less.
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 A badge is everything though in this materialistic world (is that a word or have I just made it up?). A Skoda is built on VW chassis' but people still buy the VW because of the badge, even if they have to pay a couple more grand for it.

Both the Iphone and N95 are basically Dreamcasts in a phone. Some of the graphics features are ahead of top of the range £600 PC 3dcards. Saying that personally all I want in a phone is to make phone calls and text once in a while.

I miss having something as nice as my Sony Ericsson P800 (I never felt that the P900 and upwards were significant improvements really). I have thought about the N95, but I will probably wait until the iPhone is over here, and maybe even wait a little longer to get the 2nd generation and the usual upgrades.

Nah ... the functionality of it is pretty much the best I have seen so far, but it could be better ... I am waiting to find out what improvements are on the cards and then I will decide ...

PCWorld.com is the website of a major US computer magazine, you might think of it as being like PC Pro in this country. It's not pcworld.co.uk of the stores in this country. My opinion, for what it's worth: At the moment the iPhone is a great statement of intent but in terms of what it can do for you today it's a SmartPhone for people who don't know what a real SmartPhone can do. iPhone 2.0 will be really interesting.

For once I hope they are delaying its release here because the end result will be better I think the adaptation for Europe and Asia will be the 2.0 edition I'm thinking of above. 3G is really expected over here and I think it's actually a basic requirement over much of the Asian markets. Hopefully they'll fix some of the other major gaping holes too.

gwendes Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Just sold my N80 in favour of the K810i - N80 needed a better processor and to be smaller.. Use the camera on my SE all the time - it's excellent MP3, phone and camera should be converged - Nokia and SE will be leading the way
mrforgetful Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Integrating digital camera's into phone's was the best thing to ever happen, but you only realise this when it's a decent camera. For a night out and random daily shots the camera in my N73 is great. My last phone with 2.1megapixels was adequate too. If I can manage to get a 5+mp next time I'll probably never bother with a seperate camera again. I never want to take the one I have now out with me but my phone's always in my pocket. If I was on a data tarif I'd probably be on MSN all the time, unfortunately I'm not so other than calls and a hell of a lot of texts I only really use it to demo the newest prerelease CDs I've got, my morning alarm clock, convertor, calulator and calendar.
