ben604 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Ooh, already posted for advice without introducing myself. How rude! I'm Ben, working in my first ICT role as a technician at Prenton High School with ReggieP. Hello!
EdWhittaker Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Hi My name is Ed and I'm an alcoh ... ah, sorry, wrong forum. I'm not a geek, I only have a smattering of geek - just enough to get by in the pub with the IT crowd. I'm an ex teacher (can I see hackles rising already?) but I now run a commercial company which provides an on-line behaviour and rewards management facility to schools. I have a very geeky partner who manages all the computery thingies. Why am I here? I am interested in open source and data exchange developments in schools. Cheers

IsaacParlay Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Hello All EduGeeks! My name is Isaac and I run a digital media agency in London, England. Our main focus at the moment is an online learning platform due to go into development this August and scheduled for (beta) launch early next year. I will post more about the platform in due course for anyone interested. I'm here to get a feel for what educators are really looking for to support their teaching (so we build in response to need rather than simply assuming it) so anyone interested in VLEs and other online learning tools (whatever they may be) please do share - would love to bounce around ideas with you. We have a very simple mantra - "Liberating Education" - and although we are not a charity we are also not a commercial cash-hungry beast looking to piggy back off the 'growing wave of e-learning'. Our aim is to develop USEFUL tools that enable and enhance the quality of learning - many of the features in the platform will be free to use so I'm hoping it will be of use to many of you here who feel that a lot of what's out there is unnecessarily complicated, unaffordable or simply fails to lives up to the hype. Anyway, enough from me. Thanks for the space to introduce myself - I look forward to meeting some of you and getting more involved in the community over the forthcoming weeks and months.... Isaac
