Joedetic Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 When i was working in ICT Services at my school we used to run training for CMIS etc in the ICT department and there'd be a lunch laid on for the delegates (sp?). There were always a lot of cookies left over from that....we can guess where those went There was also a lovely pie once...i forget what was in it, summer fruits i think...there was what appeared to be filo pastry......for a canteen produced item i was amazed! (and yes i side stepped the bad joke about cookies)

amyr Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 sorry guys, got distracted by year 6 searching the net to make paper airplanes.... did someone mention food? all we've got in our staffroom at the mo is fruit cos it seems everyone is on a diet...and i seriously need chocolate (or maybe alcohol or i might even settle for biscuits) after having my room invaded by year 6....ok back to researching different school websites as need to improve mine...

Everyone seems to have brought their Christmas leftovers in. The Early Years staff had a good go at reducing them yesterday - they were being inspected!

amyr Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Christmas leftovers?? We've eaten those in the first 3 days back! The horrors were that bad! We got through 2 big tins of heroes, a tin of the mint thingies, a box of biscuits, found the biscuit barrell full of biscuits last week so they've been eaten, 2 cakes yesterday and another 2 packet of cookies...and today it was the ht birthday so she brought in fruit! *wanders off to see what edibles she can find*

AshF Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 We split the shifts here, so we basically have coverage from 7:15(ish) till 5pm. So one of us (me) works 7:15-3:15 (this is, at times wishful thinking and i'll be the last one out at 6pm), another works 8:30-4:30, and a third works 9-5. Of course how this works once we appoint a new senior tech and an additional junior tech remains to be seen. It can be rather pleasant in the summer though being able to get out that early and still have so much of the day left to enjoy... However getting up in time to be in for 7:15 is a pain in the ar*e.

I dunno what sort of chaos you reign over , but here we have 1000 or so terminals (desktops, laptops... and, er, misc), 20 servers, 1600 students, 200 staff... and so on and so forth... And currently with a team of 3 (me, Snr, Jnr) we're just pulled every which way but loose atm. Hence the appointment of another Junior Technician, so it'll be me, snr, jnr x 2 and there'll be more of a chain of command thing going on. Hopefully this will lighten the load and bring the ration down to 250 machines per technician (including me) and the 3rd person will give me more time to work on that whole 'planning' aspect. Something I don't get nearly as much time to do as I'd like. Most of it seems to be spent reacting... The main problem we have now is the office is quite small and will for a period of time have 6 people in it... As for flexi-time. I get moaned at if i don't claim the O/T (this is a surprise to me), but since september I think I've worked more 11hr+ days than I really should for my own health. But this is why we're getting another tech. Assuming anyone wants to work here.

I've got a network of 24 PCs (18 in the ICT Suite), 2 (soon to be 3) whiteboards and have just dumped the Acorn I found hiding in the Pre-School (yes, they were still using it). We hope to have PCs in every classroom soon... but there are only 10 classes! It sounds easy, but given that the network was installed 12 months ago, the teaching staff haven't got a clue!
