Steve21 Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 May I ask if it is possible to remove that regional identifying image I see under my 'Member' thingy and User ID? Sorry I am taking advantage of the situation in this thread, but that is exactly the sort of thing I meant about not sharing information. It seems sort of _ _ _ well, sorry _ _ _ can it be removed? It's based on what you choose in your profile unless that's changed - "Select your Region/State Flag" Steve
RetiredBut Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 (edited) Okey-dokey. Thank you. My-oh-my. Moving to a new platform. That is never fun. EDIT: Was a response to Boredguy. I type too slow. I'm so old. Edited August 23, 2021 by RetiredBut
RetiredBut Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 It's based on what you choose in your profile unless that's changed - "Select your Region/State Flag" Steve I didn't select any from that menu I saw, so I suspect it is a default programming that kicked in. I could start going on about how I am really on my yacht out on the beautiful blue Atlantic Ocean, but I suspect that story won't float, will it? But thank you for the response.

You should find that you can edit your choice of Region/State Flag, or remove the current selection entirely.
RetiredBut Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 I sure appreciate the assistance, but I can't seem to edit that "Country Flag" part of that "About Me". And I've poked around in there a whole bunch and on I suppose another page I see an N/A after all the other choices showing. I clicked on that "Edit About Me" I saw at one point and could highlight the text of the country listed, but when I hit the "Back Space" button it didn't remove the country name. Interesting, too, that I never saw that About Me when I was poking around in what I thought were Profile Settings. But I have to confess that VBulletin isn't a forum software I'm too familiar with. But, again, I appreciate the assistance, 6Foot2.

But, again, I appreciate the assistance, 6Foot2. Looking again, I can see that my choice for country flag is read only (there is no pencil icon beside that item) I do recall making that choice: While I am in the UK, I made that selection in honour of my parents who were Irish. It seems that this item is now read only. Now that I think about it, I think this might have been mentioned in a thread some time ago. I think the same thread also talked of a new site giving members many more options. Now we wait.

sleepwalk1949 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Hi all I'm a computer-illiterate dummy since I began on a Facom (IBM ripoff) mainframe in the 70s. Witnessed such innovations as COBOL and FORTRAN, card punchers, 5 1/4" diskettes, drum printers, GUI interfaces and Mozaic, the Web's first browser. Still clueless today. Gav

Gav G’day and welcome to EduGeek… there are a few of us who have witnessed the birth of modern computing on here; you’re in good company. I started my computing degree on punch cards. The insurance company I worked for in technical support only got rid of its card punches for output in the late 1990s, one of which went to the London Science Museum, and our failsafe company still had two other companies that used them!

Podipopo Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Hello everyone, My Boss at work introduced me to this Edugeek forum as a good source of info and tech for our school IT support. Looking forward to drain your brains and feed you mine too. I hope to take that knowledge and put it to a good course of supporting teachers and student to learn, while giving me minimum tickets to deal with on a day to day basic, lol. Rgds. Podipopo 3
