Another female. Another non-geek. You are going to be overrun (albeit very, very slowly...)

 

I'm a parent governor at a Special school. We have no geek. We are geekless.

 

We manage (from what I can tell) by putting up with some truly rubbish software, because it is all via a single supplier so no arguments about who supports what thing, and by never updating *anything* if we can possibly help it.

 

We're about to update a pile of stuff.

 

I am off now to go look at profile settings and see how to put something along the lines of "I am not a geek, please be nice to me" at the bottom of all my posts... There may be a few of them.

Hi All,

 

Just signed up today. I'm an Exams Officer at a school. They keep me in a cupboard and feed me puzzles to solve, with data on Sims, on a regular basis to keep me quiet. Sometimes I need a pointer or two.

 

Am I a Geek? I admit to having a bit of coding experiance, in a past life. For those old enough to remember, object code patches for ICL ME29 machines and have used a machine running George 3.

Hello I'm Glory (think the Buffy the Vampire Slayer hell goddess). I was an IT teacher, I'm now doing my MSc in Advanced Computing at the University of Kent. I aspire to all things geekage and intend (eventually) to head back to the classroom in some form or other. Possibly not to kiddies, possibly not full time, possibly not as a "teacher". But I miss doing the teaching.

 

I kinda know bits of Java, Javascript, want to learn PHP (in a hurry), Ruby and Python are next on the list of things to do. Oh and I'm a security freak. Anything hacky or stoppy-hacky I'm there with bells on.

 

And it turns out I went to Uni with someone who worked with ZeroHour. Who I met yesterday at BETT.
