Peer Assessment by students

We've been asked to find a way for kids to mark each others work , like we used to swap books. It was suggested a folder in their home areas which another kid has access to, but I reckon that multplied up by 30 kids x 10 classes by 5 year groups it gets crazy. Is there a neat way to do it? Moodle workshop came up in a search, anyone used it? Any other suggestions?

In Media Studies (and to a lesser extent English) the kids are required to document their coursework / general classwork in the form of a blog.

 

For MS (Y10 >Y13, predominantly Y12 & 13), it lets them make comments and suggestions and riff off each other's work. It's not "marking" per-se, but they are working together to improve each other's work and the whole "people can clearly see when you're slacking" element is useful from a teaching perspective.

Google docs would suffice as they can share with another classmate the document which requires marking, great for collaborative work too.

We share pupil work for subjects such as media in a blog as above.

 

Peer assesment also takes place for us using Realsmart, which is quite expensive but we are a long time user. The Google Docs / Office 365 and the sharing of docs that way is another way of doing it as suggested by @bossman above. We are also currently using iPAD's and sharing the work via an appleTV and projector to the whole class for large group peer assesment work, but this is probably a bit overkill for your needs.

Please check this site out http://www.ctasit.com. They have a solution called Mobius SLIP. Watch the video on the front page to get the idea how it works. The site looks funky but I know that they have tested Mobius SLIP successfully in a number of courses and now are spreading the word. If you contact them, they may arrange a demo or something.
