So recently I have had a few people approach me to look at their home PCs/laptops.

Currently case in question is a laptop that appears to be dead, if I can't fix it I will attempt to retrieve the docs.

But I have no idea what to charge for this kind of work...?

Personally, just enough to avoid it. It can turn out to be much more trouble than it is worth.

I understand, only certain people have their requests accepted ;)

£25 p\h but capped at £75 for home users, it's rare a single job will take longer than 3 hours of sitting in front of it so I think that's fair

matt was looking at your website and gold / bronze / silver per pc.

thinking hypothetically, someone has bought support for 20 pcs. calls you and its the server pc (technically) work fine, its the server thats the problem or their network or whatever, how does this work,

i'm not trying to be fetitious here mate i'm just trying to understand the best way to negiotiate this kind of thing with potential customers.

Servers are extra iirc, same as network stuff as that's not the PCs. Plus it's a monthly amount, so would equal itself out.

I have had to role it all back since getting the network managers gig. Just kept the rolling monthly contracts, brings in a couple of hundred quid a month.

Nice website Matt, but I did notice numerous spelling mistakes that may put potential customers off. They might think you are a spotty teenager! :)

I can PM you the details if you want?

Mostly avoid - don't want the hassle with a tax return. Occasionally though in a needy case I will have a look and if they are happy chappies afterwards ask them to make a suitable donation to British Heart Foundation - Donate

Having had a dodgy ticker myself I really appreciate the work that particular charity does. They even have great resources for schools British Heart Foundation - Children's resources

1 was resisting a graphics card and cleaning the dust up. Got a large box of malteasers.

Other comp was swapping psu. got a large bottle of cider.
