Help me spend money on a TV

Cut a long story short, I have separated from my wife and moved out leaving her with our 2 children (8&6). So far I have been staying at a friends but I am getting my own place at the weekend and I need a TV to connect my PS3 to mainly for Netflix.

 

Few must haves

Full HD

2 x HDMI

1 x VGA

32" minimum.

£300 mark, I know I will not get something amazing for this but I cant magic money from out of space. In fact, I am selling my 2012 128gb Macbook Air to fund a TV and a few other bits

 

A couple of cheap ones I have found knocking about

 

Never heard of this brand, but its a 42", cheap and gets good reviews

Sorry to hear that.

 

Got a Samsung too - seems great so far. You can shave a few quid off that price at Laskys, too. I'm sure prices have gone up since we got ours - pretty sure ours was around £300 for a 37" Samsung (biggest that would fit in the available space) with VGA, DLNA, + 4 HDMI. Was about a year ago, so may be imagining it!

Another vote here for Samsung Tellys - got two myself connected to PS3s (upstairs and down).

 

Solid build quality - crystal clear displays and a veritable wealth of connections on the back of both of them (plus - they were both much cheaper than the sony/other expensive brand alternatives).

 

Last one I got was a 43" Full HD, 2xHDMI, 1xUSB (with the usual connections as well) for £400 quite a while back.

 

You should be able to find something a bit smaller for £300 easily.

If you read the write-up, it says Full HD and the specs give the resolution as 1920x1080

 

Theirs is certainly full HD.

Thanks, been looking at TVs for 3 hours, some details are getting fuzzy!

 

 

No price and says out of stock :(

Personally I don't think you can go far wrong with an LG if you can find one in the budget with the specs. Samsung TV's tend to have display issues indecently quickly (at least the ones our family have bought in the past have). Panasonic are a great brand and go on forever but pricy. Everyone in our family has an LG now and not a single complaint amongst them.

I bought a 32" LG 16 months ago for £330 as a family TV, apart from the sound being very low (wall mounted so not ideal, sound bar to the rescure) the picture was great.

Wow shows how quickly they changed it, it was priced at £249 but bit pointless as its out of stock.

 

Keep an eye on Hot deals UK seen quiet a few TV's on there at the moment.

They've actually changed the HD award scheme since it first came out.

 

"HD Ready" now means up to 1080i, "HD Ready 1080p" is eaxctly what it says on the tin.. HD ready - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

 

There's no 'Full HD" spec anymore.

+1. I can't stand anything made with glossy black plastic. Apart from being a fingerprint/dust/scratch magnet and looking cheap & tacky, I don't want to see reflections in the bezel while I am watching TV. :(

 

Oh, they don't exist?

I suppose the next best thing would be TVs with really thin bezels such as Samsung's Series 8 TVs, LG's Cinema Screens and Philips PFL6900 Series Frameless TVs.

Meh, you really want a border to seperate the picture from the background, I've bought some black masking tape, see how that goes.
