Is this a proper release or a preview please?

Its the Release Preview with the enterprise badge and windows-to-go.

Still build 8400.

Two GPO settings you maybe interested in:

Computer configuration -> Admin templates -> Windows Components -> Credential User Interface

Do not display the password reveal button

Computer configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Security Options

Accounts: Block Microsoft accounts

The last time I checked, we were still in July.

No need to get sarcastic we don't all remember or take note of OS release dates....

Not managed to test windows to go yet properly.

We've tried a few USB sticks but it appears it requires a 'fixed' USB drive rather than 'removable' and 32gb min. Waiting for a suitable USB stick to arrive but one of the techs used an external 2.5 disk in a caddy.

It asks for a WIM file to write and creates two partitions, one 350mb and the rest fills the drive. On reboot it basically does the win8 setup. It can see the host computers local drives, but they cannot be accessed or mapped.

Lots of potential.

I thought final release was September/October 2012?

End user launch is 26th of October but it should be RTM in the next two weeks.

Windows to go testing:

Yep, 'fixed' USB drive is a must.

A USB filter drive can be used to trick Windows 8 into thinking the 'removable' drive is 'fixed' so it passes the Windows-To-Go checks. My first test created the partitions fine, completed the WTG setup and made it bootable. On boot it popped up with the bitlocker password and after input started booting, but BSOD'd shortly afterwards.

For some reason, if I click on the Windows shortcut in Downloads and Keys, it only shows Windows 8 Pro. but if I search for Enterprise, it shows! Weird really.

no idea the big bad boss does all that stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if we dont have the correct licensing. Although win8 Pro has appeared, and I have activated a copy of enterprise i got from an alternate source with our 8 Pro MAK key successfully.

You usually only get enterprise when you have SA and other things. I dont think you get it with a normal windows licence.

The licence summary in the VLSC should tell you exactly what your are licenced for.

hmm according the that summary we arent lisened for a fraction of the things we are using hah.

I just wonder if since we switched from school3 to ESS if there is perhaps a different login to the licensing site and Im using an old one? Although im not sure why an old one will still be active.

I guess Ill need to find out on Monday

Everything is tied to the microsoft account that was given when you went with EES, so its entirely possible you are looking at an old one. As licenses don't really go away, they hang about!

At our college, I have some licensing on my email address, but the EES is on the technical managers email.

I believe you can have everything shifted to one address, but not sure how!
