Multiple email domains in one Office365 tenancy

I am looking to move my onsite Exchange 2010 environment to Office 365.

My existing Ex2010 deals with one domain ending .co.uk for staff but I have been asked to use a domain ending in .com for students on office365 (no students on my existing ex2010)

 

Is it possible to have one office365 tenancy where staff have only .co.uk addresses and students have only .com addresses?

Do you need to sync the office365 accounts with AD?

I am open to users being provisioned with a default password and requesting that the change it to match their AD passwords - the complexity of setting up ADFS makes me think that is a preferable solution for me.

Verify both your domains in Office365. You'll have to give staff and students a different UPN in AD to pickup the different email domains.

Sorry to jump onboard; but we are curently using Live@EDU for staff and student email accounts where:

 

Staff are @..sch.uk and students are @students...sch.uk, so @andyrite would we have to verify both? (considering one is a sub-domain).

 

Also, how would I migrate the (2x) Live@Edu accounts across to Office365 (as and when happy after 30 day trial), as I cannot verify our domain due to it already being linked to another Microsoft Hosting Solution (i.e. Live@EDU) without loosing all current email functionality?

 

In relation to Sharepoint Online (free plan) what are the quota/limitations if we wanted to use it as a VLE? and can you get the SLK Kit and SCORM content to work with it?

This is the wrong way to go about it. If you have existing Live@edu tenancies that are live and in use today you must wait and go through the upgrade process. Details will be communicated to the administrator listed in the Service Management Portal Institution Profile. Do not try and manually move yourself.

Take a look at the service descriptions, you will find the answers there: Download: Office 365 for Enterprise Service Descriptions - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details - I would recommend favouriting this page and referring back to it whenever you want to know about the capability of any of the constituent parts of Office 365 as the service descriptions are definitive.

Thanks for the clarification on the correct procedure to migrate existing Live@EDU accounts over to Office365, unfortunately I have not received any upgrade email communication as yet. (depspite emailing MS asking if we could be nominated for early migration etc)
