    I have been using Wyse thinOS clients but perhaps the same applies to Axel ones. In order to get the windows login screen you need to set your session to RDP security Layer instead of Negotiate or SSL. Server Manager > Remote Desktop Services > %CollectionName% > Tasks > Edit Properties > Secuurity > Set Security Layer to RDP Security Layer I have the requirement for connections only using Network Level Authentication turned off, but this might not apply for your environment/axel clients.

    There is the manufacturers 1 year warranty, I didn't ask many questions about extended warranty as I have one unopened tucked away should there be a break down.

    I moved all of my switches over to Ubiquiti a few years back, Went for the EdgeSwitch variants as at the time the UniFi switches were so new they were not with UK suppliers. I have had almost no problems with the switches since putting them in, I find them really robust and excellent value for money compared to others I had quotes for. Support can be a bit lacking with ubiquiti stuff, there is a really active support forum but getting anything in the way of answers from Ubiquiti themselves is really difficult!

    I've been using Microtik SFPs in my EdgeSwitches for a while now, the only quirk is that for one reason or another they don't auto negotiate and will only connect properly when I manually set the connection speed. You might have already done this but its worth checking.

    I have seen some online forum posts relating to Windows 10 with the Anniversary update installed stating that the same thing is happening to them, but interestingly they are reporting that the actual behaviour of the Widows update matches the GPO setting just that the GUI shows no changes and even indicates that automatic downloads and installs will take place. I will have to monitor this for a while as there are no automatic updates left for me to install right now.

    I have created the GPO with one policy object defined, to disable Windows Update, linked it to the OU where my server sits, and made sure in RSOP that the policy is applying. So far as I can tell everything is setup correctly.

    I have, multiple times (which is a pain in itself as it takes so long...I'm sure I read somewhere that we would be getting restarts which don't involve rebooting the hardware also) There are a few Technet forum posts with people looking to do the same thing as me and encountering the same thing where the GPO is seemingly being ignored, I'm watching them closely. I'm totally stumped, it seems like it should be a simple thing but I've spend days on this now.

    It seems I have missed something somewhere, I have set the GPO as detailed above and checked using rsop that it is being applied by the server, there are no other GPOs overriding this one, I have even changed the same setting to disabled on the local policy for the server but nothing changes. I do not get the orange text saying 'some settings are managed by your organisation' I am tempted to simply disable the windows update service but this doesn't feel like the proper way of doing it.

    I guess I'll calm my itchy fingers for now then, I'll stick with Server 2012 R2 for the time being that way I can control when my server restarts without having to install a whole new service. Thanks guys.

    Hi All, I have been looking into upgrading my Hyper-v hosts from Server 2012 R2 to Server 2016. Everything seems to be in order except for one stumbling block - Windows Updates. I have installed Server 2016 with a GUI, not clustered and no WSUS, I cannot find a way of preventing Windows updates from downloading, installing, and most importantly I cannot find a way of totally preventing the server from rebooting until I manually chose to do so myself. With the existing 2012 R2 setup I either shut down the VMs and perform windows update manually or migrate the VMs to a different host and perform the updates, again manually. Does anyone know of a way to replicate this in Server 2016? Surely it must be possible to turn off the automatic updates...not everyone has clustering. I have configured this GPO setting but the Windows Update app didn't change. Thanks in advance

    Yes, that has been my experience. My previous 2012 R2 with windows 10 key was replaced with this one and my Win 7/8/10 clients are all licensed with that.

    I will want to activate server 2016 at some point so I've got the server 2016 key installed which activates the LTSB 2016 also.

    I make typos from time to time and have to do just this. I use powershell and run: Set-MsolUserPrincipalName -UserPrincipalName [email protected] -NewUserPrincipalName [email protected] be sure to change the users email address and what not in AD first and then manually sync afterwards...you'll be notified of any errors by email at that point.

    I've just found out that in order to activate the Windows 10 LTSB 2016 the Server 2016 KMS key needs to be installed on the activation server, It wasn't displayed in my VLSC at first but a quick call to M'$oft sorted that.

    Unfortunately changing the USB hub for a powered one seemed to change nothing. Is there anyone else out there running direct connected stations with USB audio? if so, what model of USB headphones are being used? I'd like to try a different headset.

    Thank you for this suggestion, the hotfix would not apply to my setup as all of my systems are running Windows Server 2012.

    The monitors are connected directly to my Multipoint host with multiple graphics cards, the monitors themselves have a USB hub built into them which is connected back to the multipoint host, I then usse the USB ports on the monitor to connect a USB mouse/kb/headset. It's a fairly tidy setup with good performance but for the sound. I will try a powered USB hub as you suggest and see what that does, I'll have to buy one in I think. thanks for the ideas.

    I have been using the USB hubs built into my Dell monitors and plugging Logitech H340 headsets into them, I don't exactly know if they are powered USB or not but I might lean towards not. Is this setup likely be causing a problem?

    Thank you, I did a test and can see that audio works without error over RDP. The audio cutting out seems to happen whether there is one user or five on these Multipoint systems, the system is not being stretched and is often nowhere near high usage on the RAM or CPU. I suspect this is something hardware or driver related but I have updated everything I can think of.

    Hi all, I am a bit stumped by an issue I'm having and don't even know where to go to get support for this one, I hope someone here has had a similar experience and can offer some advice. I have a number of multipoint server 2012 setups with direct connections to the monitor and USB Keyboard/Mouse/Headset. They are experiencing an issue where the USB audio cuts out and resumes at random intervals. Is this something anyone else has seen or has any ideas about? I've tried changing the USB hub, changing the USB port on the computer which the hubs are plugged into, I've even tried changing to brand new USB headsets to rule out any faulty headsets. I appreciate any help and advice.

    I recently came across logs like this on my clients, a tech advised me that the browser service is related to Netbios which is legacy now and not used in my environment. I was advised to set the DHCP option to disable Netbios (as per attached image) and this stopped any clients trying to promote themselves.

    A department here recently ordered a volume license of Dragon 13 and we too were supplied with a license key but not the software. We had to register at using our license number, supplied by the reseller, at this address to get access to the downloads http://network.nuance.com I hope this helps
