And ironically the page is not displaying for me...

It didn't for me first time around - broadband appears to have come back now! Although originally it said expected ETA 3pm!

who unplugged the routers?

So when I get to my other job tomorrow I will no doubt get

"The network went down AGAIN"

*sigh-

Then the answer is

"No, MY network did not 'go down'. SOMEONE ELSE'S network, over which I have NO control went down. Heres the number to call and complain, don't moan at me about it"

No issues here on the BT ADSL connetion.

We got hit by this too - never had issues on our BT-operated ADSL line, but we've had a few problems on our BT Infinity. Tempted to get a second Internet line put in so next time this happens, we can just switch over to the other one and carry on; Internet access is too critical nowadays.

The irony is, when I phoned BT, their automated message suggested I check their service status web page. Um, one problem with that suggestion...

The second irony is that I was taking loads of phone calls about it, but couldn't tell everyone because we use a web-based email system! Time to look at a netsend-esque messaging system, methinks.

Fail over kicked in and brought up the second line. Never noticed a thing :p

Did your router not alert you to the failure condition? :p

Some of my clients who where affected are 5 people in a front room type businesses - all our large customers are not silly enough to use BT. I just got a flurry for phonecalls from various sites and lots of emails telling me agents where unable to be contacted on our monitoring system.

We get cash back as part of the SLA for outages. So that never happens.

We have had to claim against BT SLA's a couple of times.

The last one was when we were opening our new building, a OpenReach sub contractor was rodding a duct to try and get the copper lines into the new building. Instead they rodded right through our inter site fiber... Nedless to say OReach had to come out, sort the fiber and finish the copper job themeself Outage started at 13:30... And I waved goodbye to the OR engineer at 7:50PM.

Who do they use in lieu of BT then? :)
