Steve21 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Shock horror, Sims Summer release 2012 pulled again due to bugs! 02/07/12 Issue found with AMPARK in the SIMS 2012 Summer Release We have found a problem with the AMPARK version 7.146 which is included in the SIMS 2012 Summer Release. The Primary Tracking templates included are incorrect and should not be used as they contain incorrect values for some P scale grades. Please do not auto-import the tracking templates in a school. If you are aware of a school that has installed this version and imported these materials, then we will be posting an update to Supportnet by COB Tuesday 3rd July detailing what you will need to do to resolve the issue in AMPARK. We have temporarily withdrawn the SIMS 2012 Summer release to prevent this issue from affecting more users. An updated version of the SIMS 2012 Summer release is currently in testing and we aim to release this by COB Tuesday 3rd July along with more information on who should apply it and how. No one here to test though... Aye, Few of our primaries want it rolled out this week, apparently it's needed for some KS2 results? (Thought it was only the ampark patches, but guess they know best ) Hopefully no issues! Steve
vikpaw Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I was just trying out the new feature of quickletter edits. You need a patch to apply it, because somehow it's linked to removing the ability to add external shortcuts to the shortcuts bar. It's not something we use much, probably only i do, but it's harsh to lose it. Anyhoo, on the test server, it just adds an extra link to let you edit the QuickLetter template. Firstly, it's only open to two user groups, which is a pain, as it would be nice for everyone to be able to edit it, from in-app as it were. It just makes the instructions easier than having to say, go to my documents , my sims documents, etc. or worse still, C: drive, users / documents etc.. There are no other extra features to it. You can achieve the same by going to the location of the template file and editing it. Since it's possible to add a default open file location, it would be nice to have it open to all users, so they can personalise their quickletters if required. Then the benefit of it being within SIMS is realised, plus you could point it to the my docs folder and they'd all have local copies so each person can have a different variant if required. Not convinced of it's worth so if you don't have a test server to try it on, and you're not sure, i wouldn't bother.

Personally, you can deploy a default school template via GPO, then have a copy in the staff shared area along with instructions about copying it to your my documents, or failing that script it to copy it to everyone's my documents.

matt40k Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 SIMS 2012 Summer 4 Following that we were pleased to make the new Fischer Family Trust (FFT) software available to those schools purchasing this solution - 'Summer 3' (SIMS FFT Estimates | capita-sims.co.uk) A further update to the SIMS 2012 Summer release will be available later this week that addresses the following issues for those schools that are affected. Behaviour / Detentions Schools where teachers log behaviour in the classroom (through Lesson Monitor) and then proceeded to set a detention. The member of staff, although displaying in the Behaviour Incident details screen, disappears in the Student Detention Details screen and was therefore not pulled through to the detention itself. SLG Personal Data issue After un-ticking the "Home Address Can Be Disclosed" option in SIMS, only the address was hidden within the data collection sheet - email and telephone number were not. Upgrade Script error Sites choosing to upgrade to Summer using SOLUS2 as a 'Trusted User' were getting an error in the database upgrade at SQLBatch 70. Customers using SOLUS3 or using SQL authentication for the database upgrade in SOLUS2 were successfully able to upgrade. Note - although this version of Summer now includes the FFT capability it is 'turned off' for all schools unless they purchase the required licence through the SIMS sales desk and apply it to their SIMS system Clearly, those schools that are not affected by the items above do not need to take this release. We apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause.
